Asian Shooting C’ships 2026: Anish Bhanwala wins men’s 25m rapid fire pistol bronze

India’s Anish Bhanwala clinched the bronze medal in men’s 25m rapid fire pistol at the 2026 Asian Shooting Championships in Delhi on Wednesday. Bhanwala hit 23 shots on target in the final to finish in the third spot, behind Nikita Chiryukin of Kazakhstan. The two shooters were level at 21 shots apiece after six series of five shots each, before the Indian faltered. Bhanwala managed to hit only two of his targets in the next series, while Chiryukin shot four to stay in contention and eventually win silver. Elavenil Valarivan claims women’s 10m air rifle crown

Elavenil Valarivan and Meghna Sajjanar claimed a double podium in the women’s 10m air rifle gold at the Asian Shooting Championship at the Dr Karni Singh Shooting Range in New Delhi on Saturday. Elavenil scored 252.0 points to top the final while Meghna shot 229.5 to settle for a bronze. Japan’s Misaki Nobata won the silver with 251.5 points. Another Indian in the final, Arya Borse, finished fourth with 209.0 points. Together, Elavenil, Meghna and Arya combined to win the team gold. Elavanil was India’s third individual gold medallist in the senior event after Esha Singh (air pistol) and Rudrannksh Patil (air rifle), respectively. More to follow.. A first or second position in qualification means a guaranteed gold or silver medal – at least that’s what Indian shooting’s newest senior team pair of Suruchi Phogat and Samrat Rana thought. But as they entered the final hall at the Dr Karni Singh Shooting Range for the 10m air pistol final, the range officer explained the new format of the event to them, and suddenly both shooters, aged 19 and 21 respectively and beginning their second year with the senior team, were dealt a shock. The event was no longer a playoff versus another team, but a final featuring four teams with an initial stage of fifteen shots, followed by elimination. Forget gold or silver, there was now a possibility of no medal at all in the first international event with the new rules in place. But Phogat and Rana got their thoughts in gear …
