The Assam Cabinet has decided to formally approach the Gauhati High Court seeking the constitution of a fast-track court to hear the high-profile death case of popular Assamese singer Zubeen Garg. Announcing the decision after a Cabinet meeting on February 26, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the state government would request the Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court to facilitate day-to-day hearings to ensure swift justice. “The Assam Cabinet has decided to recommend or formally request the Gauhati High Court to constitute a fast-track court for the trial in the death case of popular Assamese singer Zubeen Garg.
