Himanta Biswa Sarma takes oath as Assam CM for second consecutive term
Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday took oath as the Chief Minister of Assam for a second consecutive term as the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) formed the government in the state for the third straight time. Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya administered the oath of office and secrecy to Sarma during a grand ceremony held at the Veterinary College ground in Khanapara, Guwahati. The swearing-in ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and several senior BJP and NDA leaders from across the country. Four ministers inducted into new Assam Cabinet Along with Sarma, four legislators also took oath as ministers in the new Council of Ministers. Those sworn in included BJP leaders Rameswar Teli and Ajanta Neog, Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) president Atul Bora and Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) leader Charan Boro.
