New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Friday announced a hybrid assessment method for Class 12 students in the Middle East after conducting select papers between February 17 and February 28, and cancelling the remaining board examinations from March 1 onwards due to the prevailing conflict situation in the region. The board will not hold fresh examinations and will instead declare results of nearly 23,000 Class 12 students in over 200 CBSE-affiliated schools across seven West Asian countries, using a formula-based evaluation that combines actual exam performance with school-based assessment. According to official sources, the State government wrote to IIT-Kanpur seeking details of the survey, including the scientists involved and the basis on which the assessment of sand mining along riverbeds in Tamil Nadu was carried out. The ED had engaged IIT-Kanpur as part of its probe into alleged large-scale irregularities in sand mining and resultant loss to the State exchequer. The institute was tasked with assessing the quantum of sand mined at 28 permitted sites during October-November 2023. Central team to assess Cyclone Montha damage in six Andhra Pradesh districts

A seven-member central team will visit Andhra Pradesh on Monday and Tuesday to assess the damage caused by Cyclone Montha across six districts. According to the news agency PTI, the Inter-Ministerial Central Team (IMCT), led by Pousumi Basu, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs, will inspect cyclone-hit areas to evaluate the extent of losses. “The Central Team will tour the affected regions for two days to inspect damages and directly interact with impacted families,” said Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA) Managing Director, Prakhar Jain. On Monday, one team will visit the Bapatla district, while another will cover Krishna, Eluru, and East Godavari districts. On Tuesday, teams are scheduled to visit Prakasam and Konaseema districts.
