Image Source : X Deceased Atul Subhash and his in-laws The Supreme Court on Monday declined the appeal of deceased AI engineer Atul Subhash in which she sought the custody of her grandson. The apex court said Subhash’s 4-year-old child will continue to stay with his mother Nikita Singhania. However, the court allowed Subhash’s mother Anju Devi to approach the lower court for child custody. In the petition, she had said that Nikita and her family harassed her son for money by trapping him in a false cases, due to which, he had to commit suicide. She also claimed that her grandson is not safe with her. (Photo: Bengaluru Whitefield Police) The estranged wife and in-laws of Bengaluru techie Atul Subahsh, have been granted interim bail by a Bengaluru court on Saturday in connection to the abetment of suicide case filed against them. Atul Subhash died by suicide on last month after alleging harassment by his wife and his in-laws. Subhash’s estranged wife Nikita Singhania, her mother Nisha Singhania and brother Anurag Singhania, were booked under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) section 108 (abetment of suicide) on the basis of a complaint filed by the deceased’s brother. They had approached the session court in Bengaluru for bail in the case. The accused had previously requested the Karnataka High Court to instruct the session court to expedite the disposal of their bail petition. Days after the tragic suicide of AI engineer Atul Subhash, his mother filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking custody of her 4-year-old grandson. Subhash’s mother Anju Devi approached the apex court, requesting that the child be handed over to her and his grandfather’s custody. A bench of Justices BV Nagarathna and N Kotiswar Singh heard the case and issued notices to the governments of Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Karnataka, asking them to respond to the petition. The top court has directed the state governments to respond to the habeas corpus petition, which seeks the return of the child.  Child’s whereabouts unknown The petition filed by Anju Devi raises concerns about the whereabouts of the child. The case has seen multiple arrests in connection with Atul Subhash’s suicide. New Delhi: The mother of Atul Subhash, the Bengaluru engineer who died by suicide on December 9, has approached the Supreme Court seeking custody of her four-year-old grandson. Subhash left behind video and written notes alleging harassment and false accusations from his wife and in-laws.   Anju Modi has filed a habeas corpus petition to secure the custody of her grandson whose whereabouts are unknown. The petition claims that neither Subhash’s estranged wife Nikita Singhania, nor her family members – currently in custody – have disclosed the child’s whereabouts.  Nikita reportedly told the police that the boy was enrolled in a Faridabad boarding school and in the custody of her uncle, Sushil Singhania. However, Sushil has denied any knowledge of the child’s location. A bench comprising Justice BV Nagarathna and Justice N Kotiswar Singh has issued notices to the governments of Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Karnataka to provide clarity on the situation. Speaking to news agency ANI, Mr Modi thanked the police for arresting Nikita and her family members in the abetment to suicide case. “We don’t know where she has kept our grandson. Has he been killed or is he alive? We don’t know anything about him. I want my grandson to be with us,” he said. “I thank the police and law enforcement. Bengaluru, Members of an NGO and many others held a candle light vigil in Bengaluru on Thursday to pay tributes to 34-year-old techie, Atul Subhash, who died by suicide earlier this week following alleged harassment by his wife and her family. Several people gathered at Eco Space, holding candles, mobile flashlights and photographs of Subhash and raised slogans, chanting, “We Want Justice.” Subhash, a tech professional, was found dead by hanging at his residence in Marathahalli on Monday. Sajeet, a member of the Men’s Rights NGO ‘Save Indian Family Foundation’, expressed deep sorrow, saying, “We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of Atul Subhash, who succumbed to the pressures of false cases and judicial harassment.
