Recently, Manoj revealed that so many people assumed he was Marathi after watching the film that even Bal Thackeray believed it. ‘Bal Thackeray was so disappointed’ “Forget about anyone, Mr Bal Thackeray thought that too,” he said in a chat with Hindustan Times. “He invited me to his place. He gave me so much respect, but he was completely baffled when he came to know that I am not from Maharashtra. And then he asked me to learn Marathi. He was so disappointed, but I had a great meeting with him. He gave me lots of blessings for the future.” In an earlier conversation with PTI, the actor described Satya as a true “game changer” in his career. “I …

After Satya, Bal Thackeray was baffled to learn Manoj Bajpayee was not Marathi: ‘He was so disappointed’ | Interview

In a career that has seen him take on arguably every kind of role, Manoj Bajpayee has become one of the rare ‘acclaimed’ actors to have become a household name in India. As his latest film, Governor, is running in theatres, the National Award winner sits down with Hindustan Times to discuss the role, his journey, and the state of Indian cinema. Manoj Bajpayee played gangster Bhiku Mhatre in Satya. ‘To make an engaging film on an RBI Governor is a huge thing’ Directed by Chinmay D. Mandlekar, Governor stars Manoj Bajpayee as S. Venkitaramanan, the former Governor of the Reserve Bank of India. The film recounts Venkitaraman’s role in saving India from the 1990 economic crisis. “It’s a run against time for the protagonist to save the country from the crisis,” says Manoj of the film, describing it as a ‘thriller’ and not a ‘technical film on economy’. The actor says he was surprised by how engaging the script was. “To make a thrilling and engaging film on an RBI Governor and his journey …

‘Blink if you are in danger’: Rahul Roy makes reels with random creator, internet is baffled | Bollywood News

Even if you’re a Gen Z, chances are you’ve heard of the 1990s blockbuster Aashiqui and the craze it created across India. The film turned its lead actors Rahul Roy and Anu Aggarwal into overnight stars, its jacket scene was iconic enough to be recreated in the sequel years later, and its songs can still be heard in tea stalls and small-town lanes to this day. But their stardom was short lived. Unable to replicate the magic of Aashiqui, both Rahul Roy and Anu Aggarwal gradually faded from the spotlight. In November 2020, Rahul Roy suffered a brain stroke, after which he largely stayed away from films. In the years since, he has kept a low profile, occasionally surfacing on social media with pictures and updates from events he attends. ‘We were quite baffled’: Sriram Raghavan on response to Ikkis, says many who objected haven’t seen the film | Bollywood News

Inspired by the life of Arun Khetarpal, the youngest recipient of the Param Vir Chakra, Ikkis revisits the Battle of Basantar during the 1971 India–Pakistan War. The film, starring Agastya Nanda, Jaideep Ahlawat and Dharmendra, has been widely appreciated for its deeply humane gaze rather than overt displays of chest-thumping nationalism which has become a part of films nowadays. At a recent Vartalaap session hosted by the Screenwriters Association (SWA), director Sriram Raghavan spoke with filmmaker Satyanshu Singh about Ikkis’ journey. The conversation, attended by Charudutt Acharya, Hitesh Kewalya, Anu Singh, and lyricist Raj Shekhar, turned to whether Ikkis had encountered any pushback. Sriram Raghavan on the response to Ikkis Raghavan admitted that the response following the film’s release caught the team off guard. “We were quite baffled, actually, by the response after the film came out,” he said. The filmmaker explained that the script underwent the standard vetting process with the army several years ago, and members of the armed forces were also present during the shoot. When the film was finally shown to …

“Yuzvendra Chahal Not A Better Bowler Than Vipraj Nigam?” Ex-India Star Baffled By PBKS’ Strategy

PBKS during their IPL 2025 match vs Chennai Super Kings in Mullanpur.© BCCI Former India players Wasim Jaffer and Piyush Chawla questioned Punjab Kings’ move of bringing Yuzvendra Chahal too late into the attack during the side’s IPL 2025 match vs Chennai Super Kings at Mullanpur on Tuesday. CSK were chasing a target of 220 in the game and Chahal was surprisingly introduced in the 17th over. The leg-spinner, who is the highest wicket-taker in the history of IPL with the tally of 206, got only one over during the entire CSK innings. Chahal was kept off the attack as it seemed PBKS didn’t want to use the leg-spinner against the left-handed batters of CSK. Devon Conway and Rachin Ravindra, two left-handed batters, started the innings for the five-time champions. Ruturaj Gaikwad, a right-handed batter, came after Rachin’s departure, but his innings could last for just one off three balls. Gaikwad’s wicket saw Shivam Dube, another left-handed batter, coming to the crease. Dube got out in the 16th over and only after that …

Sanjay Manjrekar Baffled By Virat Kohli’s Constant Dismissals On Outside Off Stump Deliveries

Sanjay Manjrekar Baffled By Virat Kohli’s Constant Dismissals On Outside Off Stump Deliveries

File photo of Virat Kohli.© AFP Cricketer-turned-commentator Sanjay Manjrekar feels it’s high time for India stalwart Virat Kohli to get some runs and overcome his “weakness” of edging it away on outside off stump deliveries. Australian pacers have exploited Virat by tempting him to drive the outside off-stump delivery throughout the four Tests of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Despite all his batting technique prowess, Virat’s six dismissals in the series have followed the same pattern, going after the outside off-stump deliveries. Apart from his century in Perth, Virat’s struggle to maintain his discipline has been the root cause behind his bleak outings with the bat. “It’s time that he not only got runs but got out in a different fashion to show that he’s overcome that problem. I’ve never seen somebody with the kind of performance and impact that Virat Kohli had on Test cricket have this kind of weakness,” Manjrekar said on ESPNcricinfo. “I don’t think any other top-class batter has had this. There may have been a patch where somebody has …
