₹504-crore IDFC First Bank fraud case: Haryana IAS officer deleted key digital evidence, alleges CBI

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) sought judicial custody of 2000-batch IAS officer Pankaj Agarwal in a Panchkula court on Thursday. The agency also alleged that digital and electronic evidence directly relevant to the criminal conspiracy had been deleted from his mobile devices. (HT File) The agency told the court that Agarwal wields considerable influence over key witnesses and subordinate officials connected to the conspiracy. The case involves his alleged role in the misappropriation of ₹504 crore in Haryana government funds across multiple departments at IDFC First Bank’s Sector 32 branch in Chandigarh. The agency submitted that there was a real and credible apprehension that, if released, he could win over, intimidate, or otherwise improperly influence witnesses. Agarwal was arrested on June 22 and was sent to two-day CBI custody. File picture | Photo Credit: The Hindu A Mumbai court on Monday (June 1, 2026) allowed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to arrest Amitabh Jhunjhunwala, a former senior executive at industrialist Anil Ambani-led Reliance Group, in a case related to alleged bank loans misuse. Mr. Jhunjhunwala was produced before special CBI judge J.P. Darekar on a production warrant from New Delhi’s Tihar Central Jail, where he was under judicial custody in a related money laundering case being probed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). Following his production, the CBI, represented by Special Public Prosecutor (SPP) A Limosin, filed an application seeking remand and permission to formally arrest the accused. 51.1% of women in Telangana have completed 10 or more years of schooling, according to National Family Health Survey (NFHS-6), up from 45.5% recorded in NFHS-5 (2019-21) Women in Telangana are more educated, digitally connected and financially empowered than ever before, according to findings from the National Family Health Survey (NFHS-6). Yet, the survey also highlights a stark reality: nearly one in three ever-married women in the State report having experienced spousal violence. The survey, released by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, paints a picture of social progress across a range of indicators related to women’s education, access to technology, financial inclusion and participation in household decision-making. At the same time, it shows that violence against women remains prevalent despite improvements recorded since the previous survey. 10 or more years of schooling According to NFHS-6, 51.1% of women in Telangana have completed 10 or more years of schooling, up from 45.5% recorded in NFHS-5 (2019-21).
