Sunil Dutt mortgaged home to make film with Amitabh Bachchan, nearly went bankrupt | Bollywood News

There are very few artistes in the Hindi film industry who remain highly respected even years after they have passed, and late actor-producer Sunil Dutt is one such rare gem of the film industry. Sunil started his career in the movies in 1955, and just a couple of years later, he married the love of his life Nargis. Soon after, they welcomed their son Sanjay, and Nargis stopped working in the movies and Sunil accepted the sole financial responsibility of the household. For the first few years, this did not affect the company but the making of the 1971 film Reshma Aur Shera led him to mortgage his bungalow in Bandra and brought him close to bankruptcy. The multi-starrer film had Sunil in the lead role, and also starred Waheeda Rehman, Rakhee and Amitabh Bachchan, and was directed by Dutt himself. …

BJP made once-prosperous Pimpri-Chinchwad civic body bankrupt: Ajit Pawar

Coming down heavily on his Mahayuti ally, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister (CM) and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Ajit Pawar on Friday alleged that during the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) tenure, the once-prosperous Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) was pushed into bankruptcy due to corruption. Pawar made the remarks while addressing a press conference in Pune as part of his election campaign for the Maharashtra civic polls. He had earlier announced that his party would tie up with the NCP (SP), led by his uncle and former Maharashtra Chief Minister Sharad Pawar. The deputy CM alleged that the BJP was attempting to corner him by granting candidature to criminal elements in the city. During the nearly 45-minute press conference, Pawar claimed to have “exposed” the BJP with documentary evidence, detailing alleged corruption in various civic works, including the dog sterilisation programme. He questioned who was responsible for specific projects and who had allegedly siphoned off public money. Moana Live Action teaser: Fans slam ‘creatively bankrupt’ Disney, question the need for yet another remake | Hollywood News

The media conglomerate Disney has an immense amount of experience when it comes to live-action adaptations of animated films. While they have winners like The Lion King, The Jungle Book, and Alice in Wonderland, they also have come up with less fortunate projects such as Snow White, Cruella, and Aladdin. Having said that, they are now taking another stab at the genre with a live-action version of Moana and have just released the first teaser of the project. Moana has two instalments so far, and both of them did incredibly well at the global box office. According to Box Office Mojo, the first film made upwards of $680 million (Rs 6000 cr). The second film that came out 8 years later in 2024 superseded its predecessor’s collection and made over $1 billion (Rs 8800 cr) worldwide. Obviously, like some of their other successful animated films, the media house sees another lucrative opportunity in Moana and wants to cash in on it.
