Wild bear dies at Bannerghatta Biological Park

Officials said that the bear was brought to BBP for treatment on February 28. “We regret to inform that the bear passed away last night (March 8) without responding to treatment. Postmortem examination revealed myocardial infarction of heart and liver septicemia,” BBP said. Two college students drown in temple pond near Bannerghatta | Latest News India

Two college students allegedly drowned while swimming in a pond near Bannerghatta on Saturday evening, police officers aware of the matter said on Sunday. Police have registered a case of unnatural death and launched an investigation. (Representational image) The victims, identified as Deepu (21) and Yogeshwar (20), were students at SFS First Grade Degree College in Hebbagodi police station limits. Police said that the incident took place when a group of five friends, on their way back from a visit to Bannerghatta National Park, stopped at a temple pond for a swim. “While returning from Bannerghatta, the five-member group entered the temple pond,” said Bannerghatta police inspector M Krishna Kumar. “Deepu was the first to get into the water and attempted to swim, but he started struggling. Yogeshwar jumped in to the pond to save him, but both drowned in the process.” The incident took place around 5pm. Gadkari has assured alignment of Bengaluru Ring Road will be altered near Bannerghatta Forest: CM Bommai

After a meeting with Nitin Gadkari, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai told the media persons that the Union Minister has assured that the alignment of the Satellite Township Ring Road (STRR) — Bengaluru Ring Road — will be changed near Bannerghatta. Earlier, there was a proposal to build the road in the forest area by building an elevated corridor of 7 km and the State government had raised strong reservations about the project as it impacts the wildlife of the National Park. CM said, ”The State Wildlife Board had taken a stand that the proposed road should not go via the forest area. The minister has agreed to alter alignment resulting in increased project cost. The road goes via the periphery of the forest area.” The CM said 4-lane construction of Shiradi Ghat will commence from March and design is getting ready for building a tunnel network in the long run.
