Salman Khan’s upcoming film Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace has been stuck in limbo for quite some time now. Originally slated for an April 17 release, the film is yet to see the light of day. Interestingly, it appears that several films centred around the Indo-China conflict have met a similar fate. According to a report by Mid-day, actor Bhagyashree’s husband and producer Himalay Dassani had also planned a film titled The Lion of Galwan with his son, actor Abhimanyu Dassani.  The film was based on Vir Chakra awardee Sepoy Gurtej Singh, who was martyred during the 2020 Galwan Valley clash between Indian and Chinese troops. The delay comes in the form of a strategic shift the makers chose to undertake after the film grabbed eyeballs for its anti-China rhetoric. Battle of Galwan to Maatrubhumi Maatrubhumi was initially titled Battle of Galwan. A teaser was dropped in December last year, which showcased Salman’s character of a soldier leading the military standoff in eastern Ladakh in May 2020. Clashes at the Galwan Valley in June that year resulted in a severe strain in ties between India and China. Twenty Indian Army personnel laid down their lives in the Galwan Valley clashes.
