Veteran actor Pradeep Rawat has passed away at the age of 74 after battling cancer. Best known for playing the menacing Ghajini Dharmatma in Aamir Khan’s Ghajini and Deva Singh Sodhi in Lagaan, Rawat’s death was confirmed by his manager and actor Yashpal Sharma. Taking to Instagram, Yashpal Sharma wrote, “Pradeep Rawat Our GajiniDeva of LagaanRIP (sic).” Meanwhile, Rawat’s manager Siddharth Tiwari told Hindustan Times, “He was suffering from cancer, and it had relapsed. He has died a few hours back.” Pradeep Rawat began his acting journey with B.R. Chopra’s iconic television series Mahabharat, where he portrayed Ashwatthama. Over a career spanning four decades, he became one of Indian cinema’s most recognisable screen villains, appearing in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam films.
