Maharashtra BJP Chief Chandrashekhar Bawankule Urges Party Workers To “Empty” Congress, Induct Its Leaders

Pune: Maharashtra BJP chief and state minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule has purportedly urged party workers to empty the Congress by inducting its leaders, inviting the ire of the grand old party. The Congress has said the party belongs to the people, and they are associated with it “ideologically”. Mr Bawankule made the purported remark while addressing local workers during a party event in Pune on Sunday. In an audio clip of his speech that surfaced on social media, the BJP leader said, “Bring people like Sangram Thopte into the party. Empty the Congress. Don’t worry about what will happen if Congress leaders join the BJP. The more you empty the Congress, the more you will benefit politically. When the BJP gives tickets, it gives priority to its workers.” Congress loyalist and former MLA from Bhor constituency Thopte recently joined the saffron party in Mumbai. Uddhav realised breaking alliance with BJP was a blunder, says Bawankule

Uddhav realised breaking alliance with BJP was a blunder, says Bawankule

The decision by Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) to contest the upcoming civic polls in Maharashtra independently is a result of the party’s realisation that parting ways with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and aligning with the Congress in 2019 was a mistake, state minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule said on Saturday. Amid a blame game over the Maha Vikas Aghadi`s defeat in the state assembly elections, key constituent Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT) announced earlier in the day that it would fight the local elections solo. Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut highlighted the lack of opportunities for workers within alliances and the need for organisational growth as key reasons for contesting independently, news agency PTI reported. “The Shiv Sena (UBT) has realised its blunder of choosing the Congress over BJP and Devendra Fadnavis in 2019. The Uddhav Thackeray-led party has realised that the Congress` ideology cannot take it forward,” Bawankule said. Thackeray had ended the decades-long alliance with BJP after the 2019 assembly polls, accusing the latter of breaking a promise to share the chief …

I myself met with the EC (Election Commission) and the state election commissioner to raise the issue of manipulation in the entire Lok Sabha election in Maharashtra . Eknath Khadse had to resign in 2016 as a minister of the erstwhile Devendra Fadnavis cabinet owing to a land deal case.
