Security agencies launched an investigation after two gelatin sticks were recovered from a roadside near Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s event venue on the outskirts of Bengaluru on Sunday, reported the PTI. According to police, the gelatin sticks were discovered during routine security checks near Tataguni in the Kaggalipura police station limits ahead of the Prime Minister’s visit to the city. PM Modi was in Bengaluru to attend the 45th foundation day celebrations at the Art of Living Centre on Kanakapura Road near Kaggalipura. Police said the gelatin sticks were found lying near a footpath around three kilometres away from the main venue connected to the Prime Minister’s movement route. “In the morning, before the PM’s arrival, security personnel found two gelatin sticks during checking operations. Further investigation is underway,” police said in a statement, according to the PTI. Nearly two weeks after the body of a 25-year-old machine learning engineer of an AI firm was found in Bengaluru’s Agara Lake, allegations have surfaced on Reddit and media reports quoting unnamed employees that the engineer died by suicide due to toxic work culture and an exploitative manager. The body of the engineer, Nikhil Somwanshi, was found in the lake on May 8, and a first information report (FIR) was filed to look into the matter. Somwanshi joined Krutrim, an AI company owned by ride-hailing app Ola, in August 2024 as a machine learning engineer, shortly after completing his master’s degree at Bengaluru’s Indian Institute of Science (IISc). An outstanding student with a 9.30 GPA, he was allegedly burdened with the responsibilities of several former colleagues who resigned due to the conduct of their US-based manager, Rajkiran Panuganti. A 56-year-old engineer in Bengaluru was allegedly defrauded of Rs 2.44 crore after he installed an unsecured mobile application to invest in US stocks. Suresh (name changed at his request), who filed a complaint at the South CEN police station on Tuesday, said he received a WhatsApp message on July 1 from a US number claiming to offer lucrative stock trading opportunities. He was invited to join a WhatsApp group named Chandra High-Quality Bull Plan Screening Group-XY36, where the group admin posted about US stock trading and promised substantial profits. On July 2, Suresh paid a membership fee of Rs 999 to join a Telegram group, where a person named Jeevan Gopal assisted him with trading. On July 25, he was instructed to open a demat account through an app installed via an apk file and he subsequently invested Rs 2.44 crore in multiple transactions. However, when Suresh attempted to withdraw his funds, he was informed that he needed to pay 30 per cent of his profits. He transferred Rs 50,000 but found his account …

4 Bengaluru police officials suspended for falsely implicating youths in drug case | Bangalore News

Four Bengaluru police personnel were Sunday suspended for allegedly implicating two youths in a drug case. Two informants, including a woman, have also been arrested on the charges of misleading the police. The suspended officials are sub-inspector Sridhar Gugri, assistant sub-inspector S K Raju, and constables Satish Bagali and Thimmanna Poojar. All of them are attached to the Banashankari police station. According to a police officer, two people were arrested for allegedly peddling drugs near the Cement Road in Kadirenahalli on August 9. The police had claimed that more than 400 gram of opium was seized from the accused. However, the family members of the accused approached the police stating that they were falsely framed and suspected informant Rajan’s role in it. They filed a complaint with City Police Commissioner B Dayananda, who directed Subramanyapura ACP Girish to conduct an inquiry.
