Ajayaghosh, Chair Professor, SRM University, Chennai, and former Director, CSIR-National Institute For Interdisciplinary Science and Technology (NIIST), Thiruvananthapuram, has been awarded the prestigious CSIR Bhatnagar Fellowship for 2024. The CSIR Bhatnagar Fellowship recognises outstanding scientists and enables them to pursue excellence in scientific research. The fellowship carries an annual operational grant of ₹40 lakh per year and a research grant of ₹25 lakh per year initially for a period of three years and extendable up to five years. Dr. Ajayaghosh is a noted scientist in the field of chemistry and a recipient of major awards including the Shanti Swaroop Bhatnagar Prize, Infosys Prize and the Kairali Lifetime Achievement Award of the Kerala government. Actor Suhani Bhatnagar, who had played the role of young ‘Babita Phogat’ in 2016 film Dangal, died in Delhi on Friday. The 19-year-old actor, who was admitted to AIIMS on February 7, was undergoing treatment in the hospital’s medicine department. “She was in ICU, and passed away on February 16,” said an AIIMS official on Saturday. The actor’s family said her final rites was held at their house in Faridabad Sector 17 on Saturday. “She had suffered a fracture in her feet two months ago and later developed complications due to the medication. There was water retention in her body and even doctors were uncertain about what was happening,” said the actor’s grandfather, A P Bhatnagar. Officials of AIIMS, however, have not confirmed this. Bhatnagar was pursuing a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Faridabad’s Rachna Manav University. “She was in the first year of college, and was focusing on her studies. Actress Suhani Bhatnagar, best known for her role in Dangal, passed away on Friday in Delhi. She was 19-years-old. As per reports, Suhani Bhatnagar was in the ICU where she was receiving treatment after a medication caused harmful side effects. The actress played young Babita Phogat in Dangal which also featured Aamir Khan, Sanya Malhotra and Fatima Sana Shaikh. Aamir Khan’s team extended heartfelt condolences in a post that read, “We are deeply saddened to hear about our Suhani passing away. Our heartfelt condolences to her mother Poojaji, and the entire family. Such a talented young girl, such a team player, Dangal would have been incomplete without Suhani. Suhani, you will always remain a star in our hearts. May you rest in peace.”  Reports reveal that Suhani had a leg injury. The treatment led to side effects which caused her sudden demise.
