Aryan Nehra qualifies for the Commonwealth Games in 1500m Freestyle

Gujarat’s Aryan Nehra lit up the Veer Savarkar Sports Complex with a record-breaking performance in the men’s 1500m freestyle and also booked his berth for the Glasgow Commonwealth Games on Day 3 of the 79th National Swimming Championships in Ahmedabad on Thursday. Aryan clocked 15:14.88s to swim 11 seconds faster than the CWG qualification mark which stood at 15:25.48s. Aryan is now only the third Indian swimmer after Sajan Prakash (200m Butterfly) and Srihari Natraj (50m Backstroke) to achieve the mark. Bhavya Sachdeva wins seventh gold as Jain University extends lead

Swimmer Bhavya Sachdeva powered Jain University to a commanding lead at the Khelo India University Games Rajasthan 2025, winning three gold medals on Thursday to raise her overall tally to seven. Competing at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium complex, Bhavya claimed individual titles in the women’s 800m freestyle (9:37.41) and 200m freestyle (2:13.55), before adding another gold in the women’s 4x100m medley relay. Jain University continued to dominate the pool, picking up eight of the 11 swimming gold medals on offer to take their overall tally to 20. Guru Nanak Dev University and Lovely Professional University (LPU) remained in a close battle for second place, with LPU eventually pulling ahead on the strength of medals in archery, shooting, judo and wrestling. Trap shooters Neeru Dhanda and Aditya Bharadwaj helped Guru Nanak Dev University clean sweep all the four shotgun medals in the Khelo India University Games Rajasthan 2025 at the Jagatpur Shooting Range, while their cyclists won both the individual road races to take their gold medal tally into double figures on Wednesday. Paris Olympians Dhinidhi Desinghu and Srihari Nataraj shone throughout the intense and exciting aquatics program at the National Games 2025 in Uttarakhand, winning nine gold medals each. The swimmers, representing Karnataka, won two gold medals each on the final day, helping the state grab a total of 22 gold medals from the swimming program, which incidentally was three better than the previous edition. Dhinidhi shines with 11 medals The 14-year-old Dhinidhi Desinghu, who was in constant focus at the meet, impressed everyone winning 11 medals (nine gold, one silver, and one bronze).
