Former Pakistan prime minister Benazir Bhutto was assassinated on Thursday in a suicide attack shortly after a political rally in Rawalpindi’s Liaqat Bagh. The Himachal Pradesh police have booked the BJP’s Kutlehar Assembly bypoll candidate, Davinder Kumar Bhutto, who was among the six Congress MLAs disqualified for cross-voting in the Rajya Sabha polls, and his son Karan Bhutto in a forgery and cheating case. The case pertains to a government contract of the Public Works Department (PWD) obtained a few months ago in Kangra district. “We have lodged an FIR against Davinder Kumar Bhutto and his son. We have collected all relevant records from the PWD department. The collected documents are being scrutinised. The two will be summoned to join the investigation once the documents have been examined from all aspects, including forensic examination. Nothing more can be revealed at this stage,” Superintendent of Police Shalini Agnihotri told The Indian Express.
