In a recent development on the IPL franchise buyers list, a total of 5 parties have pulled out of the race to buy the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and the Rajasthan Royals (RR) ahead of the start of the IPL 2026 season. With March 16 to be the deadline, RCB was expected to attract 7 bids, while Rajasthan had expected 5 bids. However, it is reported that only three buyers are interested in RCB while the Rajasthan Royals has attracted four bids. RCB Ownership Battle Adar Poonawalla (with TPG), Times of India Group, Premji Invest, and Capri Global have withdrawn interest from buying RCB. According to reports, Swedish private equity firm, EQT, is the frontrunner in the bid raning between $2 – $2.1 billion. Meanwhile, Avram Glazer’s Lancer Capital had previously bid $1.8 billion and remains a strong contender with the highest non-binding bid, but does not have any local partners. SC-appointed Justice Rao recommends striking balance between AIFF’s control and bidders’ interests | Football News

Justice (Retd.) L Nageswara Rao has recommended striking a balance between “preserving” the All India Football Federation’s (AIFF) authority and keeping in mind prospective bidders’ commercial interests, in his report to the Supreme Court after an unsuccessful tender process to monetise the ISL. The apex court-appointed committee, led by Justice Rao, has submitted a report to the SC after its invitation for bids on the tender it floated for the ISL’s commercial rights found no takers, which left the sport’s national federation in a fix. “The recommendations that follow seek to strike a balanced approach by preserving the AIFF’s regulatory role while making the commercial framework more viable, and attractive to prospective bidders, thereby facilitating renewed interest and enabling the timely conduct of the ISL,” Justice Rao noted in his report, a copy of which is with PTI. However, the rules governing private properties have been rewritten. | Photo Credit: ALLEN EGENUSE J Bengaluru’s advertising landscape is set for a major overhaul, with the State government releasing a new draft that increases the volume of advertising permitted along the city’s roads. The draft will introduce a stricter zone-based system, and standardise how rights are assigned to bidders for every road, circle and notified stretch.  In the revised draft, the government has allowed more advertising space on most Bengaluru roads. Earlier, rules had fixed lower limits—for example, 800 sq. ft of ads were allowed for every 200 m on 18 to 24 m roads, 1,000 sq. ft on 24–30 m roads, 1,100 sq. ft on 30–60 m roads and 1,200 sq. ft on the widest roads. The auction, conducted by the Smugglers and Foreign Exchange Manipulators (Forfeiture and Property) Act Authority (SAFEMA), was the fifth attempt to sell the properties, which are located in the Khed area of Maharashtra’s Ratnagiri district. Despite being listed with base prices of Rs 2.33 lakh, Rs 9.41 lakh, Rs 8.08 lakh and Rs 15,000, no participants came forward. The auction was held on Tuesday (November 4).
