In a major political development in Bihar, Jan Suraaj Party (JSP) founder Prashant Kishor on Monday won the Bankipur Assembly by-election, ending the BJP’s uninterrupted hold over the constituency since 1995, reported PTI. The victory marks the first time in over three decades that the BJP has lost the prestigious urban constituency. The bypoll was necessitated after BJP national president Nitin Nabin vacated the seat following his election to the Rajya Sabha. Making his electoral debut, the 49-year-old defeated BJP candidate Neeraj Kumar by a margin of 19,324 votes, securing 64,151 votes.  Historic debut victory Political strategist-turned-politician, Kishor had framed the bypoll as a “referendum” on the BJP-led government in Bihar. A case involving the alleged theft of cash, jewellery, and electronic devices from the official residence of former Bihar minister and JJD chief Tej Pratap Yadav has come to light in Patna, drawing attention in both political and administrative circles.  According to the complaint, the alleged theft took place at Tej Pratap Yadav’s official residence located on Harding Road in the state capital. Faisal Khan, popularly known as ‘Khan Sir’, has been named in an FIR in connection with vandalism at his coaching centre in Bihar’s Patna, police said on Friday.
