Bihar Environment Minister inaugurates ‘Ecotourism Investors Meet-2026’

Bihar’s Environment, Forest & Climate Change Minister Ram Chandra Prasad on Monday (July 13, 2026) inaugurated “Ecotourism Investors Meet-2026,” which was organised to boost ecotourism with the participation of private investors in the state. A day-long investors’ meet was organised at a city hotel, which was attended by potential investors from across the country who are likely to make investments in different ecotourism destinations of the State. An Army personnel and his father were allegedly shot dead over a land dispute in Bihar’s Vaishali district on Sunday, officials said. Police suspect that a few relatives of the deceased might have been behind the killing, they said. “Owing to a suspected land dispute over a pathway, the accused shot Narik Rai and his son Jitendra Kumar, who was an Army personnel. Rai died on the spot while Kumar breathed his last at Sadar hospital where he was taken for treatment,” Sadar SDPO Subodh Kumar said. The programme was organised by the Urban Development and Housing Department and Bihar Urban Infrastructure Development Corporation (BUIDCO) at the MIT Muzaffarpur ground. These include 669 projects worth ₹375.04 crore under the ‘Mukhyamantri Samagra Shahri Vikas Yojana’ (Chief Minister’s Comprehensive Urban Development Scheme), three projects worth ₹233.77 crore under the Storm Water Drainage Scheme, and the Muzaffarpur Smart City project worth ₹213.25 crore, among others. He also inaugurated the Sikandarpur Lake Front, developed at a cost of ₹225.03 crore under the Muzaffarpur Smart City project. Seven schoolgirls fainted following punishment by a teacher in Bihar’s Khagaria district, officials said on Wednesday. The incident occurred at Eknia Middle School on Tuesday under Mansi Nagar Panchayat in the district.  Several Std VI students were allegedly made to do sit-ups by a teacher for not completing their homework, during which seven girls fainted and fell to the ground, officials said.  All the girls, who were taken to Mansi Community Health Centre (CHC) for primary treatment, were discharged after their condition stabilised. File | Photo Credit: PTI With a view to taking the initiative to develop a modern, fast, and integrated regional transport system in the State, the Bihar cabinet on Wednesday (July 9, 2026) accorded in-principle approval for the preparation of Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for four Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) corridors. The RRTS system will provide safe, fast, reliable, environmentally sustainable, and efficient last-mile connectivity, benefiting citizens, students, working professionals, and commercial activities across the region. RRTS is a semi-high-speed commuter rail network built to connect metropolitan cities across the National Capital Region.  A total of 22 decisions were taken at a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary.  The State cabinet approved an estimated cost of ₹31.59 crore for the preparation of the Alternative Analysis Report (AAR) and Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for all four proposed corridors and has entrusted this work to the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) on nomination basis, Cabinet Secretariat Department’s Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) Arvind Kumar Chaudhary said in a post …

The case concerns Sanoj Kumar, who was allegedly detained during an excise department raid at Dharhara Musahar Toli near Bihiya on August 13, 2025, in connection with a liquor-related case. He has been missing since. While excise officials have maintained that he escaped from custody, his family has alleged that he was killed in custody, and that evidence was subsequently concealed. The five officials arrested are Assistant Sub-inspectors Dheeraj Kumar and Raj Kumar, and Home Guards Dharmendra Paswan, Umesh Kumar Yadav and Raju Kumar Singh.
