Bihar orders 2-day family vacation for all govt employees every 3 months | India News

4 min readPatnaUpdated: May 26, 2026 12:58 PM IST The Bihar government has directed all state government officials and employees to undertake periodic two-day stays at tourist destinations in the state, including eco-tourism and rural tourism destinations, as part of an initiative aimed at encouraging the development of local tourism infrastructure. “All government officers and employees working in the state of Bihar shall, once every three months, undertake a two-day visit (including two nights) with their families to any district within the state, excluding their home district, and stay in tourist, eco-tourism or rural tourism destinations,” a communication issued by the General Administration Department said. The order specifies that the stay should include Friday and Saturday nights, during which the visitors should tour up to three nearby destinations. The government has said the duration of such travel would be “treated as time spent on duty”. ₹350 crore investment to generate 2,300 employment opportunities in Bihar

The Project Clearance Committee (PCC) meeting of the Bihar Industrial Area Development Authority (BIADA), under the Industries Department, Government of Bihar, was conducted on Saturday (May 23, 2026) under the chairmanship of Kundan Kumar, Secretary, Industries Department Cum MD, Bihar Industrial Area Development Authority (BIADA) and Infrastructure Development Authority (IDA). During the meeting, the committee approved 20 industrial projects and allocated nearly 30 acres of land for their establishment. The proposed projects are expected to attract investments worth approximately ₹350 crore, creating employment opportunities for around 2,300 people across the State. Industries Minister Shreyasi Singh said that the newly approved industrial projects are set to provide fresh momentum to Bihar’s industrial and technological development. The 1531-km-long Delhi-Howrah railway route is one of high-density railway corridor in the country. Once completed, the third line project will boost rail capacity while improving operational flexibility and train punctuality. It is also expected to strengthen both passenger and freight movement across Eastern and Northern India. Railway projects in Bihar: Third line project approved on Delhi-Howrah route On May 19, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw approved the third line project between Kiul and Jhajha to provide seamless movement of passenger and freight trains while supporting industrial growth and trade connectivity across the region. The 54-km-long section falls under the administrative control of East Central Railway’s Danapur Division. With a view to strengthening international air connectivity and boosting religious tourism, the Bihar cabinet on Wednesday (May 20, 2026) approved ₹10.40 crore as Viability Gap Funding (VGF) to operate direct flights between Gaya Ji and Bangkok. The decision was taken at a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary. A total of 13 agendas were approved at the meeting. “With a view to increasing the air connectivity on new international routes in Bihar, the cabinet has approved a Civil Aviation Department’s proposal to start non-stop air service on the international route between Gaya Ji and Bangkok. M/s InterGlobe Aviation Limited (Indigo Airlines) has been selected on a nomination basis to operate flight service between the two cities,” Cabinet Secretariat Department’s Additional Chief Secretary Arvind Kumar Chaudhary said in a post-cabinet briefing.
