Lee Cronin’s The Mummy Box Office Collections: Steady run continues in 2nd week, Tamil Nadu leads biz

Lee Cronin’s The Mummy Box Office Collections: Steady run continues in 2nd week, Tamil Nadu leads biz

Hollywood horror film Lee Cronin’s The Mummy continued its steady run at the Indian box office as the film collected Rs. 1.75 crore approx on its 2nd Friday. This marks a minimal 12 per cent drop from its opening day last week. The 8-day running total stands at Rs. 18.75 crore (USD 2 million) approx. The second weekend is expected to earn around Rs. 8 crore, which will take its total gross to around Rs. 25 crore by Sunday. This could probably go for Rs. 35-40 crore full run, which would be an excellent outcome for a small-budget film like this. The business is heavily driven by South India, and even there, it is Tamil Nadu which is doing exceedingly well. Yesterday, the state accounted for over 40 per cent of the collections. This was 20-25 per cent during the first weekend, gradually increasing through the weekdays to now representing nearly half of the all-India business. Typically, Tamil Nadu contributes closer to 10 per cent for Hollywood releases, with markets like Mumbai, Delhi-UP, and Mysore …

Bhooth Bangla Box Office Collections: Akshay Kumar starrer at Rs. 70 Cr in 5 days with biz growing on Tuesday

Bhooth Bangla Box Office Collections: Akshay Kumar starrer at Rs. 70 Cr in 5 days with biz growing on Tuesday

Bhooth Bangla collected Rs. 7.25 crore nett approx on Tuesday. There was a nearly 20 per cent spike in business thanks to the discount day. In terms of footfalls, yesterday was quite similar to Friday. The five-day running total is just short of the Rs. 70 crore nett mark. The film is headed for a Rs. 78 crore or so first week. Today is an important day for the film, as it could determine whether it becomes a HIT. Earlier, it used to be a Monday hold test, but since the introduction of Discount Tuesday, a chunk of weekday business has sort of shifted to Tuesday, and now Wednesday hold has become a determinant as well. If the film manages to stay over Rs. 5 crore nett today and the 2nd Friday doesn’t drop much from there, it will be almost sealed as a HIT.  Crucially, the film has avoided the kind of weekday drop seen by Jolly LLB 3. While Jolly LLB 3 fared well on the weekend, the weekday business took a dip …

The film witnessed a sharp decline of around 60 per cent from its opening day. A further decline is expected today, which should wrap its first weekend under Rs. 125 crore, possibly closer to Rs. 115 crore. Overseas, the fall was even sharper, with the second day biz plummeting to USD 550K, for a total of USD 3.15 million (Rs. 28.50 crore). The worldwide earnings yesterday amounted to Rs. 33 crore approx, pushing its worldwide box office cume to Rs. 122.50 crore approx. The opening weekend is expected to wind up under Rs. 150 crore. If it weren’t for the Sankranti holidays, the Rs. 200 crore final would have been doubtful, but now it might still crawl up there. The fall was all across the board, whether in Telugu states or elsewhere. Even the Hindi version, which generally sees a jump on Saturday, went down by 20 per cent. …
