Labour welfare boards will be strengthened: Minister Bindu Krishna
Minister for Labour Bindu Krishna has said that the State government will strengthen various labour welfare boards through scientific studies to enhance the well-being of workers across the State. The Minister was speaking at the State-level inauguration of the distribution of free educational supplies for children of workers registered under the Kerala Motor Transport Workers’ Welfare Fund Board. At the event held at the Kadappakkada Sports Club in Kollam on Tuesday, Ms. Krishna also clarified that the government will actively seek the opinions of trade unions regarding the Justice Gopala Gowda Committee report. The Minister added that key demands of motor workers, including fixing the rent for cargo vehicles and ensuring fair wages for bus and lorry workers, are currently under the official consideration of the department. Regarding the rate hike demanded by autorickshaw workers, she noted that the final decision rests with the Transport department and confirmed that the memorandums received on this matter will be forwarded to the Transport Minister for further action.
