Reservoir to meet water needs of 52 bastis in Borabanda and Rahmathnagar inaugurated

Minister for Transport and BC Welfare Ponnam Prabhakar and Union Minister for Coals and Mines G. Kishan Reddy on Saturday inaugurated the ground level storage reservoir at SPR Hills in Jubilee Hills Constituency. The three-million-litre capacity reservoir built at a cost of ₹5.70 crore will address the drinking water needs of 52 bastis in Borabanda and Rahmathnagar areas. Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) Managing Director K. Ashok Reddy said that the high-altitude areas had been facing issues, with colonies reporting low pressure and supply during the night and even no supply of water for up to three days sometimes. The reservoir will now resolve all those issues and ensure supply of water every alternate day, he said. Recalling the agitations for regular water supply by the residents of Borabanda and Rahmathnagar, Mr. Kishan Reddy congratulated them and noted that Hyderabad as a rapidly growing city needs more water. The schedule of buses from Cherlapally Railway Terminal to Borabanda was announced by Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) on Thursday (January 9, 2025). | Photo Credit: By Arrangement Three days after the Cherlapally Railway Terminal was inaugurated, Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) on Thursday (January 9, 2025) announced regular operation of buses from the newly inaugurated Terminus to Borabanda. The buses, which starts from Platform number 9, travels through Chengicherla – Uppal and Ramanthapur, at a frequency of 40 minutes. According to the schedule shared by the corporation, the first bus leaves from the terminus at 8.35 am and the last bus at 10.40 pm.  Besides this, the corporation has said that the bus number 250C starts leaves from Blue Sea Hotel in Sedunderabad to Cherlapally, is available every ten minutes starting from 4.00 am to 10.30 pm. These buses will travel via Habsiguda, Nacharam, Mallapur. Four arrested for sexually assaulting a minor in Borabanda

Four men were arrested by the Borabanda police for harassing and sexually assaulting a minor girl late on Monday. The incident came to light following a distress call from the girl’s neighbour after which the police rushed to the spot and arrested one of the men, all of whom are natives of Bihar. According to the police, on the intervening night of December 23 and 24 when the victim was returning home in Borabanda with her male friend, four men on a two-wheeler stopped their autorickshaw. While two of them sat in the autorickshaw, the other two followed the vehicle on their bike. “When the victim and her boyfriend tried to get down, the accused obstructed their way. They threatened the auto driver and sent him off. They took the couple to an isolated place where they demanded money from them. While one of them held the boy, three others forcibly took the girl to her uncle’s residence where they tried to sexually assault her,” Borabanda inspector S. Veerashekar said.
