Row over Subhas Chandra Bose’s belonging, explained| India News

Chandra Kumar Bose, a grandnephew of freedom fighter Subhas Chandra Bose, has demanded an investigation into the “authenticity” of Netaji’s cap currently on display at the Red Fort museum. His demand follows an initial claim that the cap was missing, which was clarified by the authorities. He has now claimed that the cap — back in its glass case in Delhi — may not be the original one. The cap belongs to Subhas Chandra Bose, leader of the Indian National Army and one of the main faces of India’s freedom movement against British colonial raj. (Photos: X/@ASIGoI, @Chandrakbose) The controversy began when members of an organisation called Open Platform for Netaji (OPN) discovered an empty display case at the INA Museum. Naveen Bamel, a lawyer and a member of the organisation, visited the museum recently and found the iconic cap was missing. Staff were reportedly unable to provide an immediate explanation. ‘Support His Posthumous Return’: Netaji’s Daughter Renews Call For Return Of Bose’s Ashes From Japan | India News

Last Updated:January 23, 2026, 07:18 IST Anita Bose Pfaff urges India to repatriate Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s ashes from Tokyo’s Renkoji Temple, seeking a dignified final rite on his 129th birth anniversary. Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose (File photo) As the nation prepares to mark the 129th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose on January 23, his daughter Anita Bose Pfaff has renewed her appeal for the repatriation of the ashes preserved at Tokyo’s Renkoji Temple, which she and several family members believe to be Netaji’s mortal remains. Pfaff said it would have caused deep anguish to Bose—who spent much of his life in exile while striving for India’s independence—that his remains continue to rest on foreign soil even more than eight decades after his death and nearly eight decades after India attained freedom. Calling upon those who continue to admire and honour Netaji, Pfaff urged Indians to support what she described as his “posthumous return from exile” and to back the transfer of his ashes to India for a dignified and appropriate final rite. …

Rahul Bose’s four-decade journey culminates in the transformative Rugby Premier League

Rugby veteran Rahul Bose’s connection with the sport wasn’t initially about creating history. It was about simply playing a game he loved. That passion, sustained and nurtured for over four decades, has now culminated in India’s most ambitious rugby venture yet – the Rugby Premier League (RPL). As the President of Rugby India, Bose is now working overtime to transform the sport in India through the RPL. A television product The RPL, debuting in 2025 with six city-based franchises, represents the world’s first franchise-based rugby 7s league. For Bose, who played on India’s first national rugby team in 1998, this moment has been years in the making. “Every team owner we’ve approached hasn’t heard about the Rugby Premier League or the best players in the world. They’ve heard the story of Indian rugby,” says Bose, in an exclusive interview with The Bridge. He tells us of how when he met with international players at Perth to talk about the league, he was met with apprehension. “They asked me four questions: When is it? Where is …

(Photo: Manoj Verma/HT and Instagram) Addressing the trailer, Miranda House principal Bijayalaxmi Nanda, says she feels “betrayed” by the makers for “misrepresenting” the institution, especially since director Shonali Bose is a former student. Subhas Chandra Bose’s daughter writes: Bring Netaji’s ashes home

Jan 23, 2025 11:51 IST First published on: Jan 23, 2025 at 11:47 IST Share On August 18, 1945, three days after the end of World War II in the eastern theatre of war, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose died following a plane crash in Taipei (then occupied by Japan). His remains were cremated there and taken to Tokyo. The community of Indian exiles who had made their home there arranged for the urn to be kept (and hidden from the US occupation forces) at Renkoji Temple temporarily — maybe a few months or a few years, at the most. Today, almost 80 years later, and more than 77 years after India became independent, Netaji’s remains are still honoured at Renkoji Temple. With Rev Mochizuki, the third generation of head priests exercises this function. At the time of Netaji’s death and shortly thereafter, a large part of the world was in total upheaval. Communication was archaic compared to today’s standards. There were several parties interested in ascertaining what truly happened to Netaji: Did he really die? …

Bose’s new SoundLink Max has a little handle and big sound

Say what you will about Bose’s more ambitious swings — I appreciate that it takes them in the first place — but today, the company is releasing a new product in a category that it’s always been pretty excellent at: Bluetooth speakers. Bose is more or less supersizing its SoundLink Flex into a new, larger model called the SoundLink Max. Considering how Bose’s acoustic processing has for years squeezed impressive sound out of relatively small hardware, I’m excited to hear what a bigger device is capable of. Coming May 16th for a price of $399, the new speaker is loaded with three transducers and two custom-designed passive radiators. So right there, you’re already in for quite an improvement over the mono SoundLink Flex. I love to groove with my wireless speaker in the middle of a totally barren landscape.Image: Bose Now, I can get pretty annoyed when tech companies charge a lot of money for Bluetooth speakers that only do Bluetooth, so I’m glad to see that Bose has outfitted the SoundLink Max with a …

Bose’s excellent QC Ultra Earbuds are matching their all-time low

If the bar for noise-canceling earbuds seems high right now, that’s because Bose and Sony seem to raise it with every addition to their respective lineups. The QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds are a great example of just how impressive ANC has become in the last few years, particularly in the earbuds space. And now, thanks to a $50 discount, you can pick them up at Amazon, Best Buy, and Walmart for $249. If noise cancellation is your top priority when selecting a pair of wireless earbuds, there’s no better choice than the Ultra. Bose’s latest earbuds do a terrific job masking the sounds of traffic, talking, and other noisy facets of everyday life, allowing you to soak in your playlists and podcasts without unwanted distractions. When you do want to hear what’s going on around you, they also have a crystal-clear transparency mode, which will pipe in sound from the outside so you can remain abreast of your surroundings. Spec-wise, the Ultra are pretty similar to the last-gen QC Earbuds II, aside from a few minor …

Bose’s noise-canceling QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds are back at their lowest price

In addition to top-notch noise cancellation, the wireless earbuds sound great with a new immersive audio component. Bose also improved voice call performance, so you should have no problem making calls from cafes, while the transparency mode remains crystal clear. The buds are now designed to fit even more securely in your ears while retaining perks like IPX4 water resistance, so you don’t have to worry while wearing them commuting or working out. All in all, they’re an excellent pair of buds that’ll guarantee you some peace and quiet whenever and wherever, even if you do need to pay $50 to add wireless charging and will not get multipoint support. If you’re looking for an affordable mobile gaming controller, you might consider giving Razer’s Kishi V2 a try. It has USB-C, meaning it works with Android devices of varying sizes, and the white Xbox Edition version is down to $79.99 at Woot ($70 off), which is one of its better prices to date. While some of us at The Verge prefer the Backbone One controller for its slightly better build …
