Sports Ministry recognises Bowling Federation of India as official governing body for Lawn Bowls

The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MYAS) has officially recognised as the Bowling Federation of India (BFI) as the governing body for Lawn Bowls in India. In a letter dated 20 April, 2026 the Ministry wrote, “This recognition to Bowling Federation of India (BFI) means granting a major role to the Bowling Federation of India (BFI) for promotion and development of the sport of Lawn Bowls in India. The recognition has been granted after relaxation of following provisions of the National Sports Development Code of India, 2011.” The Bowling Federation of India was formed decades back in 1985. It was affiliated to the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) and World Bowls, the global federation, in 1990. Lawn Bowls gained prominence in India four years ago when the Indian women’s fours team comprising of Rupa Rani Tirkey, Nayanmoni Saikia, Lovley Choubey, and Pinki Singh clinched a gold medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. The Indian men’s fours team of Sunil Bahadur, Navneet Singh, Chandan Kumar Singh, and Dinesh Kumar had also bagged a silver …

Mukesh Kumar stands tall at Delhi Capitals; sometimes, it appears he bowls wides deliberately in a crazy tactic

Delhi Capitals is not exactly a reliable franchise to support. If you are one of their fans, more often than not, the Indian Premier League (IPL) is not a great experience, season in and season out. This season too, keeping in line with their performances over the years, they started well by winning their first two matches, but it didn’t take them long to come crashing down to the ground as they lost to Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings rather badly. But amid this see-saw, medium pacer Mukesh Kumar has been absolutely terrific. Mukesh Kumar has been simply outstanding this season. (PTI) There has not been a single game where Mukesh hasn’t left a good impression. In the team’s opening game against Lucknow Super Giants, he returned figures of 0/17 in three overs. Against Mumbai Indians, he got rid of Ryan Rickelton and Tilak Varma early on and finished with 2/26 in three overs. Against GT, a match that they should have won, he was expensive with figures of 2/55, but he wasn’t entirely …

Who has this IPL’s best bouncer? A RCB spinner who bowls at around 120 kph | Cricket News

Who has this IPL’s best bouncer? A RCB spinner who bowls at around 120 kph | Cricket News

Bhuvneshwar Kumar said it with the quiet pleasure of someone making a point too good to argue with. “Since last year, you have bowled more bouncers than me.” Krunal Pandya laughed. “Why should fast bowlers have all the fun? Spinners also should have fun.” Before Sunday’s game against Mumbai Indians, Krunal had debuted a new haircut — braids, paired with a fresh tattoo, chosen after he polled his Instagram followers on four options and went with the winner. He had been saving it for the right moment. He always is. Not a spinner who occasionally surprises, but one who has spent the last two years dismantling the category itself. *** On Sunday night at Wankhede, Suryakumar Yadav was sweeping cleanly. Krunal had already shown him everything: the bouncers, the side-arm angles, the higher release. Then he went back to basics. Leg-stump line. The sweep’s ideal arc. But he slowed it, made it dip early. Suryakumar could not get under it. Holed out to deep backward square leg. Back-to-back breakthroughs when #RCB needed it the most …

‘If he bowls only two overs, then they should deduct 2 crores’

‘If he bowls only two overs, then they should deduct 2 crores’

3 min readMar 22, 2026 05:11 PM IST Cameron Green was purchased in the auction for 25.20 Crores. However, his fitness has been a concern, and Australia have used him judiciously because of the same. Former Indian cricketer R Ashwin opined that if Green is not bowling enough overs for the Kolkata Knight Riders due to workload management, they should have the power to reduce his salary. “There is a question about Cameron Green. Will Cricket Australia allow him to bowl all four overs? That is also a possibility. In this scenario, the Australian board is saying to Green that he can play in the IPL, but Test cricket is very important for us, so you can play only this much of workload,” R Ashwin said on his YouTube channel. “IPL teams also should have an opportunity where if he bowls only two overs, then they should deduct 2 crores. Why not? If he is not able to deliver his four overs, then you should have the right to cut their money, right? When you …

‘Every over he bowls is an event’: Ravi Shastri on Jasprit Bumrah ahead of India vs England semi-final | Cricket News

2 min readUpdated: Mar 5, 2026 04:04 PM IST Jasprit Bumrah has yet again emerged as India’s bowling spearhead at the T20 World Cup, and the 32-year-old will undoubtedly be the man in focus during the high-octane semi-final match against England at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Bumrah’s level-headed character and supreme arsenal of skills have helped him gather nine wickets in six matches thus far this edition. And while that isn’t the highest among the Indian bowlers – Varun Chakaravarthy leads with 12 wickets – Bumrah’s jaw-dropping 6.30 economy has constricted oppositions throughout the tournament. Former India coach Ravi Shastri praised Bumrah’s unrivalled skillset and game awareness during the ICC Review Podcast on the eve of the semi-final. “Every over he bowls, you know it’s an event. He doesn’t give too many runs away, but he can crack open a game – just like he did against West Indies,” remarked Shastri. “Those wickets don’t come by fluke. There’s a deep thought process behind each delivery, total awareness of who he is bowling to, and …

‘Not that easy is it’: Mitchell Starc’s hilarious reaction as Alyssa Healy bowls for the first time in her last ODI | Cricket News

2 min readMar 2, 2026 01:37 PM IST Alyssa Healy ended her ODI career on a high scoring 158 runs against India in the third ODI and signing off with the Player of the match title on Sunday as Australia wrapped up the ODI series 3-0. However, in her farewell match, she did something which was never done before. A wicket-keeper batter by trade, Healy had never bowled in her ODI career before. On Sunday, she decided to have a go and came on for bowling in the 32nd over with India at 164/7. As she came on to bowl, her husband and Australian pacer Mitchell Starc was doing commentary for Channel 7 at that moment. Alyssa Healy bowled in an ODI for the first time ever! Mitch Starc had some thoughts in the commentary box 😂 pic.twitter.com/xnY5RBdFiJ — 7Cricket (@7Cricket) March 2, 2026 As Healy was getting ready to bowl her first ball, the comm box started to tease Starc with banter. One of the commentators said,”Husband wife combination with more than 700 wickets. …

‘No pacer bowls slower than 140-145 km per hour,’ says UAE all-rounder Dhruv Parashar after big loss to South Africa | Cricket News

4 min readNew DelhiFeb 18, 2026 05:37 PM IST South Africa had come into their final group encounter with a perfect record, and the UAE were never expected to stop them from maintaining that streak. And under overcast skies and a bit of unseasonal rain in the Capital, the Proteas prepared for their Super Eight encounter against favourites India with a six-wicket shellacking of the underdogs at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Wednesday. The conditions for the morning game, and the pace and bounce in the South African attack – even though Lungi Ngidi and Marco Jansen were rested – was something the UAE team had rarely faced before. So, despite a decent start which took them to 36 for no loss after four overs, they could manage only 122/6 in their allotted 20 overs, a total that was overhauled in just 13.2 overs. “We have faced Haris Rauf and Shaheen Shah Afridi, and other fast bowlers, especially at last year’s Asia Cup. But in the South African team, no pacer bowls slower than 140-145 …

‘We make him bat at no.7, where he gets limited chances and he bowls very few overs’: Aakash Chopra on Nitish Reddy after Ryan ten Doeschate remarks | Cricket News

After India’s assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate said Nitish Reddy doesn’t really seize opportunities whenever he gets a chance to impress, a bevy of former cricketers came out in defence of the allrounder. Aakash Chopra, who has been vocal about Nitish not getting enough chances, said that the player deserves a long run and has been afforded limited chances to make an impact. “We make him bat at number seven, where he gets limited chances, and he bowls very few overs. If you don’t give opportunities, it becomes difficult for any young cricketer to make an impact unless you are an opener or a new-ball bowler,” Chopra said. “Being an all-rounder is not easy. You have to master two skills. Ravindra Jadeja didn’t become what he is overnight, nor did Hardik Pandya. They became complete players because of the time they spent in international cricket. Nitish Reddy also needs that time,” Robin Uthappa told PTI Videos. Former India cricketer-turned-politician Manoj Tiwary, meanwhile, felt Reddy’s dip in form began after his maiden international hundred against Australia …

Krishnamachari Srikkanth on Harshit Rana: ‘The only issue with him is sometimes he bowls brilliantly and then bowls two bad balls’ | Cricket News

Harshit Rana, in the recently concluded ODI series against South Africa, has picked up four wickets from three games. In the third ODI, although he bowled brilliantly could not manage to scalp a wicket. Former Indian selector Krishnamachari Srikkanth speaking about Rana said, he bowls well, but he tends to slip in bad balls, and he loses rhythm. “Harshit bowled brilliantly. He was unlucky not to take a wicket. The only issue with him is sometimes he bowls brilliantly and then bowls two bad balls. That’s where he is losing his rhythm. He shouldn’t overtry. He bowls a superb ball that comes into the right-hander and away from the left-hander. If he gets the control over his line and length, he can be a very useful bowler,” said Srikkanth on his YouTube channel. “But most important is Arshdeep Singh. He always strikes in the first two overs. That’s a very important thing. Rickleton looked scared to even face him. I was a harsh critic of Harshit Rana. I wasn’t criticizing his bowling ability though, I …

‘A bowler who bowls at 150 knows that he is a king’: Umran Malik aims at India comeback | Cricket News

Speedster Umran Malik on Friday said that his goal was to play for India again. Malik who clocked 156.7kph in IPL 2024, has been battling multiple injuries since then but hasn’t let the setbacks affect his spirit. “Let me tell you one thing. Those who bowl 150 are not strike bowlers, they are attacking bowlers. They will be hit for 30 (runs) in four (overs) but will also give you wickets. A fast bowler is like that. He should know what he has to do. A bowler who bowls at 150 knows that he is a king and he has to back himself. Not everyone can bowl 150kph. It takes real guts to bowl at 150kph and I have been doing this for the last five years,” he said after J&K’s Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy match against Uttar Pradesh. “Bowling 150kph is an art, you can’t go directly from 137 to 145. Do training, do whatever you want — this is natural, this is all natural. You need to train yourself accordingly, eat properly, rest …
