The Sunrisers Hyderabad opener Abhishek Sharma has been fined 25 per cent of his match fees and handed one demerit point after SRH’s win over Kolkata Knight Riders on April 02 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. It is known that he has fined for using obscene language during the contest. The match referee deemed the SRH opener to have breached IPL code of conduct. According to article 2.3 IPL Code of Conduct, which covers the use of language that is widely recognised as offensive, obscene or profane and is audible to spectators or the viewing audience – whether picked up by stump microphone or otherwise. This may included for instance, expressions of frustration directed at one’s own performance or circumstances.
