Police have launched a probe after unidentified persons allegedly attempted to siphon crude oil by illegally tapping into an Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) pipeline in Rajasthan’s Tonk district.  The attempt came to light after IOCL detected an abnormal pressure drop, and, during an inspection at Ladi village, discovered a 40-foot underground pipeline connected to its crude oil network. The pressure drop was noticed on June 1. The illegal connection was removed, the pipeline repaired, and a complaint has been lodged. Government targets Rs 419 crore deficit, announces key reforms

The Assam government on Friday presented a Rs 2,85,084 crore Budget for the 2026-27 financial year and proposed to raise the tax exemption limit for small tea growers by four times and cut VAT on piped natural gas by almost 10 percentage points. Assam Finance Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah also announced to continue all the major schemes rolled out during the last five years, while stating that he aims to cut the Budget deficit to Rs 419 crore.
