Hollywood actor Gene Hackman and his wife Betsy Arakawa’s Santa Fe property was a “breeding ground for infestation,” with dead rats and feces all over the premises, according to a new report. There were no signs of an infestation in the couple’s primary residence, it added. A week after their bodies were found, the New Mexico Department of Public Health investigated the property and found rodent feces in three garages, two small guest houses and three sheds. Other than this, they also found one live rodent, one dead rodent and a whole rodent nest, according to TMZ. The initial investigation revealed that the main house was safe but this check did not include the other buildings in the property. The investigation was fully conducted after Ms Arakawa’s autopsy reports revealed that she died of Hantavirus pulmonary syndrome. Breeding colonies of Brown noddy, Bridled Tern, Saunder’s Tern, Little Tern, Greater Crested Tern and Roseate Tern were recorded on these sandbars, 8 km south-east of Arichalmunai, near the Sri Lankan maritime boundary. The findings were published in the Journal of Threatened Taxa. “The closest known breeding colonies of Brown noddies were on Cherbaniani Reef and Pitti island of Lakshadweep, Sri Lanka and Maldives. The Maharashtra legislative council on Wednesday passed the Maharashtra Bovine Breeding Regulation Bill, 2023 which seeks to regulate the breeding of bovine species including cows, reported the PTI. According to the news agency, the `Maharashtra Go Jatiya Prajanan Bill` was presented by Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development Minister Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil in the upper house. It provides for stringent quality control measures for the semen used in artificial insemination, regulation of insemination practices and the creation of the Maharashtra Go Rajya Prajnan Niyaman Pradhikaran (Bovine Breeding Regulation Authority), a dedicated body for overseeing and enforcing quality control, the minister said, as per the PTI. The bill also promotes technological advancements such as the use of sex-sorted semen at a subsidized rate and aims to address the shortage of qualified veterinarians by establishing private veterinary universities, said Vikhe Patil.
