A revenue department official was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000 in Maharashtra’s Raigad district, officials said on Wednesday, reported the PTI. The 49-year-old accused was caught in a trap operation conducted by the ACB at the Panvel tehsil office. According to officials, the complainant and his wife had purchased land at Gavdevi Pada in Panvel and required a mutation entry in the official records. When the complainant approached the circle office for the 7/12 land record entry, the official allegedly demanded Rs 50,000 to complete the process, the news agency reported. After negotiations, the amount was reportedly reduced to Rs 30,000. ACB trap operation Unwilling to pay the bribe, the complainant approached the ACB’s Raigad unit and lodged a complaint. Acting on the information, officials laid a trap on Tuesday and caught the accused red-handed while accepting Rs 30,000. Bhadrachalam Forest Divisional Officer Santhapuri Sujatha and Tegada Deputy Range Officer Bhukya Krishna along with the seized amount. Two Forest Department officials were arrested by the Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Thursday while accepting a bribe of ₹3.5 lakh in Bhadradri Kothagudem district. The accused were identified as Santhapuri Sujatha, Forest Divisional Officer (FDO), Bhadrachalam, and Bhukya Krishna, Deputy Range Officer of Tegada and in-charge Forest Range Officer of Charla. According to the ACB, the duo was trapped at the Forest Divisional Office in Bhadrachalam after demanding and accepting the amount from a complainant. The ACB said the officials sought money in exchange for not registering cases against the complainant over alleged damage to forest trees during the laying of a two-kilometre BT road from Pusuguppa village in Charla mandal to the Chhattisgarh border. Thiruvananthapuram, A statewide vigilance probe into illegal soil mining and transportation in Kerala has found that 14 officials across departments allegedly accepted bribes totalling ₹4.69 lakh through UPI transactions from soil contractors and applicants. IIlegal soil mining: Kerala Vigilance finds officials took ₹4.69 lakh bribe The inspections, carried out under “Operation Earth Guard” held on April 20, covered all 14 district Mining and Geology offices, 72 offices in select local self-government institutions and 360 locations flagged for suspected violations, according to an official statement on Tuesday. Acting on intelligence inputs about widespread irregularities, the vigilance department conducted surprise checks and found serious violations, including removal of soil beyond permitted limits and misuse of building permits for illegal excavation. In many cases, landowners obtained permits for construction, removed large quantities of soil, but failed to begin building work within the mandated onecyear period. In some instances, land was altered and later sold as sites after large-scale soil removal, it said. A superintendent of a government-run remand home in Maharashtra’s Beed district was allegedly caught taking a Rs 30,000 bribe from a private security guard to facilitate official work, the ACB said on Tuesday. The ACB’s Jalna unit caught Kapil Bhimrao Kamble (43), a junior security officer and superintendent of the remand home, while accepting the bribe in the Palwan Chowk area on Monday evening, an official said, the PTI reported.  The action was taken based on a complaint filed by a security guard, who alleged that after joining duty at the remand home, the accused demanded Rs 45,000 to facilitate official work, including forwarding attendance reports to the company and assisting in the issuance of his employment order.
