Stuart Broad on GT’s tactics

Stuart Broad on GT’s tactics

2 min readJun 1, 2026 07:03 PM IST Gujarat Titans slightly changed their batting order during the final against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Jos Buttler, who batted at number three for the franchise, was demoted to number four, and Nishant Sindhu came in to bat at three. “Buttler batted at 3 throughout the tournament. And then came the final, batting first, he moved down to bat at 4. I can’t get my head around why you changed the role in the final. Even AB de Villiers said it was a defensive move,” Broad said on the for the love of cricket YouTube channel. Analysing the move, Broad predicted that the change might have come because GT felt the wicket could improve for batting in the second innings. “Buttler dropping down was surprising as it’s not like he’s not exposed to the new ball, having opened so much for England. It does seem slightly curious. The only rationale behind the move was the think tank feeling the pitch was going to get better and have the …

Jos Buttler, Stuart Broad back Jacob Bethell in IPL after Alastair Cook criticism: ‘Times have changed’ | Cricket News

3 min readApr 30, 2026 06:42 PM IST England stars Jos Buttler and Stuart Broad have backed Jacob Bethell’s decision to remain with Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL, arguing that the modern game has changed and that the youngster can still benefit enormously from being in the tournament even without regular game time. Bethell’s situation has sparked debate in England after former captain Alastair Cook suggested the left-hander would be better served returning home to play county cricket rather than staying on the bench in India. That stance was strongly challenged by Kevin Pietersen, who argued that critics underestimate the value of being part of an IPL setup. Pietersen said training alongside elite players, working with world-class coaches and learning in a high-pressure environment could be just as beneficial for a young cricketer as county appearances. Buttler sided firmly with that argument, saying those who have not experienced the IPL often fail to understand what it offers. “I think unless you’ve played in the IPL and been here and experienced it, it’s very difficult …

Jos Buttler, Stuart Broad hail Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s rise

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s remarkable emergence in the IPL has prompted Jos Buttler and Stuart Broad to joke that Rajasthan Royals may need to hand the teenage sensation a historic long-term deal to keep hold of him. The left-hander, who debuted for RR in IPL 2025, has become one of the most talked-about cricketers in the league for his ability to play some of the best bowlers with little or no fear and has already scored 400 runs in nine matches this season. Discussing the youngster’s future, Buttler suggested Sooryavanshi could become the first player to land an unprecedented two-decade contract. “Could be the first 20-year contract,” Buttler said on the “For The Love of Cricket” podcast. Broad quickly agreed. “20-year contract, yeah.” Buttler then imagined the scale of numbers the teenager could produce over such a spell. “You know, 20,000 runs in his IPL career. He’d still probably have another five years left.” Broad responded with a laugh: “Yeah, he might be a bit tired by then.” Broad, meanwhile, praised Rajasthan Royals for spotting and backing …

Kerala advised to revise DPR of semi-high speed rail corridor on broad gauge

Kerala advised to revise DPR of semi-high speed rail corridor on broad gauge

The Union Railway Ministry has revived hopes for Kerala’s long-pending semi-high-speed rail project, SilverLine, by asking the State to revise the Detailed Project Report (DPR). The proposed corridor from Thiruvananthapuram to Kasaragod is now required to use broad gauge (BG) tracks instead of the originally proposed standard gauge tracks. This directive comes as the Railway Board develops standards and specifications for a semi-high-speed BG corridor, drawing from its ongoing Sarkhej–Dholera project under Western Railway in Gujarat. The Kerala Rail Development Corporation Limited (K-Rail), the joint venture responsible for implementing railway projects in the State, has been advised to revise the DPR in consultation with Western Railway. Kerala Assembly Elections 2026: Broad Left platform involving former CPI(M) leaders in the works, says K.K. Rema

Revolutionary Marxist Party (RMP) leader and sitting MLA of Vadakara in Kozhikode K.K. Rema is seeking re-election from the constituency as a United Democratic Front (UDF)-backed candidate. Talking to The Hindu, she asserts that the voters will reject the Left Democratic Front (LDF) government for its “anti-people” policies. You are contesting for the third time from Vadakara. But this is your first poll battle after getting elected as an MLA in 2021. What are your hopes this time? We are getting a good feedback from the voters. All the circumstances are conducive for a consecutive second victory. The campaign is mainly focussed on the anti-incumbency feelings against the LDF government. That sentiment is clearly visible. The development works that I have undertaken in the past five years will also have an impact on voters. Are you concerned about the change in your symbol? It was football in 2021, but now you have been allotted television? No such worries though we have incurred some financial losses as posters with that symbol had already been printed before …

4 min readNew DelhiMar 9, 2026 01:38 AM IST Greater representation of women in the judiciary is not about preference but about ensuring equal opportunity and a fair starting line in the legal profession, Chief Justice of India, Justice Surya Kant, said on Sunday.
