Meta’s Quest 1 VR headset will stop getting bug fixes and security patches in 2024

Meta is planning to stop supporting the original Quest VR headset with new software updates, and soon anyone using the older hardware will be locked out of some social features. Several users on Reddit and Twitter, along with journalist Janko Roettgers, have posted screenshots of an email saying the company will stop shipping new features to the Quest 1 and that some features are going away. The headset will, however, be getting “critical bug fixes and security patches until 2024.” The email says that original Quests will keep working, but users won’t be able to “create or join a party” and that users “who currently have access to Meta Horizon Home social features will lose access to these features on March 5, 2023.” Those features appear to include the ability to go to someone else’s home or have someone visit your home. The Quest, which was released under the Oculus brand in 2019, is a predecessor to the popular Quest 2 headset, which came out in late 2020. For years, the two headsets have largely …

Google Calendar Bug Reported To Create Incorrect Events on Android, iOS Devices

Google Calendar users have reportedly experienced a bug that is causing the application to create random events based on emails received in the user’s Gmail inbox. Several users seem to have reported the issue on the Google Calendar app for Android and iOS mobile devices. The bug has been reported by various users on Twitter as well, who took to the social media platform to share screenshots of their Calendar apps filled with random events. According to a report by 9to5Google, Google Calendar has been displaying random created events that have been triggered by messages in their Gmail inbox that do not necessarily track back to any actual event. The events created incorrectly mostly seem to be all-day events which have been caused by a bug in the Gmail mobile application on some Android and iOS devices. However, it isn’t clear what particular bug has caused this to happen, added the report. Several users were seen taking to Twitter to post screenshots of their Google Calendar apps filled with all-day events that do not lead …

Users report Google Calendar bug creating random, fake events

Numerous users have reported experiencing an odd glitch in the Google Calendar mobile app over the past few days. The app appears to be creating random, nonexistent all-day events based on the content of users’ Gmail messages. As 9to5Google (who reported the news earlier today) notes, various sorts of emails including delivery notifications, purchase receipts, and newsletters appear to be showing up as all-day calendar events. Some Verge staffers who use the Google calendar app are experiencing this glitch. “It’s like finding landmines in my calendar,” one writer (whose calendar is screenshotted below) complained. Google has not yet responded to a request for comment. Make sure you’re not late for your Epic Games Receipt appointment. If you ‘re experiencing this problem and you want it to stop, the simplest solution as of now is to pop into your Google Calendar settings and toggle “Show Events from Gmail” off. This is also a decent thing to do, in general, if you want to keep spam invitations off of your calendar. Source link
