In a statement on Saturday, the Prime Minister’s office said the facility will involve the full development of a complete ecosystem from the manufacture to assembly, test, and qualification, to delivery and maintenance of the complete lifecycle of the aircraft. In September 2021, India signed a ₹21,935-crore contract with European plane maker Airbus for 56 planes to boost self-reliance in the defence manufacturing sector.
