Disability percentage can’t determine capability for public employment: Supreme Court| India News

The Supreme Court has held that the percentage of disability cannot be treated as determinative of a candidate’s capability or suitability for public employment, underlining that the State carries a positive obligation to ensure equal opportunity and provide reasonable accommodation to persons with disabilities. Disability percentage can’t determine capability for public employment: Supreme Court A bench of justices Vikram Nath and Sandeep Mehta made the observation while ordering the Himachal Pradesh government to appoint a lawyer with 90% permanent locomotor disability as an assistant district attorney (ADA), setting aside the state’s decision to deny him the post despite his success in the selection process. The court also imposed costs of ₹5 lakh on the state, noting that the candidate, Prabhu Kumar, had been “unjustly denied appointment” despite being meritorious and was forced to undergo prolonged litigation. “The percentage of disability, by itself, cannot be treated as determinative of a candidate’s capability or suitability for public employment,” held the bench in a judgment released on Tuesday, emphasising that the statutory framework under the Rights of Persons …

Varun Aaron lauds Washington Sundar’s innings in 3rd T20I: ‘Australia likely underestimated his capability to play the short ball’ | Cricket News

Washington Sundar played a big role in India’s successful run chase against Australia in the 3rd T20I at Hobart on Sunday with the all-rounder slamming an unbeaten 49 off 23 deliveries to help the Men in Blue win by 5 wickets and level the series 1-1. Former India player Varun Aaron and former Australia cricketer Aaron Finch lauded Sundar’s efforts, highlighting his effectiveness with the bat. “Washington has demonstrated his effectiveness with the bat, especially against short-pitched deliveries, as we saw in the previous IPL. His first five boundaries off the fast bowlers were all through short balls, showing how well he thrives on them. Australia likely underestimated his capability to play the short ball, and his early six off Nathan Ellis set the tone perfectly. Though he didn’t bowl in this match, his contribution with the bat was crucial, and he could well be the player of the match for this T20 international,” Aaron said on JioHotstar’s Cricket Live. With ISRO Satellite Launch, Night-Time Surveillance Capability To Get Boost

New Delhi: The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is set to launch a satellite that can see through clouds and at night, adding more muscle to India’s satellite-based surveillance capability as New Delhi stays alert despite calm along the border with Pakistan. Scheduled for launch on Sunday at 5.59 am from the Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota, the radar satellite will be launched into orbit on board the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV). In the 101st launch of a big rocket by ISRO, the 1,696-kilogram EOS-9 radar imaging satellite will be stationed over 500 kilometres above the Earth’s surface. The indigenously-made “spy” satellite, designed by ISRO’s UR Rao Satellite Center in Bengaluru, is equipped with a C-band synthetic aperture radar, enabling it to capture high-resolution images of the Earth’s surface under all weather conditions and in low light. EOS-9 will be an addition to the existing constellation of over 57 satellites India already has in space. These include four radar satellites in orbit, which kept a watch on the borders as India-Pakistan tensions rose …

Now, developers and enterprises can use Claude via the Anthropic API to build applications that benefit from up-to-date knowledge and real-time information. The San Francisco-based AI firm said that Claude will use reasoning to automatically determine when a query can benefit from web search. Notably, the company released the web search functionality in the Claude chatbot in March, significantly later than competitors such as Google and OpenAI. Anthropic API Finally Gets Web Search Support In a newsroom post, the AI firm announced the addition of web search in the Anthropic API. The inclusion occurred just two months after the company added the capability in the end-consumer version of Claude. Developers will now be able to enable the web search tool when making requests to the Messages API, and the chatbot will include real-world information. Google Is Adding Native Image Editing Capability to the Gemini App

Google Is Adding Native Image Editing Capability to the Gemini App

Google is expanding the artificial intelligence (AI)-powered native image editing feature to the Gemini app. Announced on Wednesday, this new capability will allow users to make specific changes to images without leaving the AI chatbot. This capability was first unveiled in March within the Google AI Studio platform. Powered by the Gemini 2.0 Flash AI model, the feature allows users to conversationally ask the chatbot to change elements, add, replace or remove objects, enhance the background, and more. Gemini App Now Supports Native Image Editing Gemini was fairly late to the image generation space compared to rivals such as ChatGPT, Copilot, and Midjourney. While the feature was introduced in early 2024, the Mountain View-based tech giant had to pause and roll back the capability after several users found the chatbot to be generating inaccurate and offensive images. Google then re-added image generation in Gemini in December 2024 with Gemini 2.0 Flash. In a blog post, the tech giant announced that it is rolling out native image editing via Gemini to the Gemini app. The capability …

OpenAI Adds Image Generation Capability to GPT-4o, Can Render Text and Offers Prompt-Based Editing

OpenAI added image generation capability to its existing GPT-4o artificial intelligence (AI) model on Tuesday. The San Francisco-based AI firm released the 4o Image Generation model and integrated it into the GPT-4o. The company said that the focus of this image generator is on usefulness instead of decorativeness. It comes with accurate text rendering, high prompt adherence, character consistency, and it offers image editing capability via text prompts. OpenAI has also taken several steps to mitigate the risk of deepfakes and the generation of harmful content. ChatGPT Gets Enhanced Image Generation Capability Even before this new addition, ChatGPT could generate images powered by one of the DALL-E models. However, this was a basic image-generation experience where character consistency and text generation were sub-par. In a blog post, the company explained that it now intends to add the image-generation function as a primary capability of language models.
