The Central Board of Secondary Education on Tuesday issued a post-result support update for Class 12th, detailing the status of scanned copies of evaluated answer books and related requests. The CBSE has begun the process for re-evaluation and verification of answer sheets following concerns raised by some students. (HT File photo) According to the status bulletin as of 6 pm on May 26, CBSE said a total of 4,04,319 applications by students have been received for obtaining scanned copies of 11,31,961 answer books. Of these, 8,98,214 answer books have been furnished digitally, the board said, adding that the pending requests for scanned copies are expected to be fulfilled by Thursday. The Education Ministry on Sunday dismissed concerns over the On-Screen Marking (OSM) affecting students’ scores in the CBSE Class 12 exams, saying it’s a system followed internationally to conduct transparent evaluation. School Education Secretary Sanjay Kumar said to address concerns among students, the CBSE has reduced the cost to obtain a copy of the answer book to Rs 100 from the earlier amount of Rs 700. The cost for verification of marks has been reduced from Rs 500 to Rs 100 per answer book, and the cost for re-evaluation has been reduced from Rs 100 to Rs 25 per question. If the re-evaluation results in an increase in marks, the amount will be refunded, Kumar said. According to officials, the decision has been taken to ease the anxiety of students. They, however, maintained that the OSM is a foolproof, standardised and transparent marking process. They maintained that it is an internationally accepted norm which enables “transparent evaluation”. The Board has reduced the revaluation and answer sheet verification charges to ₹100, the Ministry said. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Wednesday (May 13, 2026) released the Class 12 board examination results which recorded a slight dip in the overall pass percentage in 2026 in comparison to last year. CBSE mandates three-language formula in classes 9-10, clarifies no board exam for third language

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Friday issued a circular mandating that students from Class IX onwards must study three languages from July 1. However, it clarified that the third language (R3) will not be included as a Board examination subject in Class X. The board stated that at least two of the three languages must be Indian languages, in accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the National Curriculum Framework for School Education 2023, according to ANI. “With effect from July 1, 2026, for Class IX, the study of three languages (R1, R2, R3) shall be compulsory, with at least two languages being native Indian languages,” the circular read. However, the CBSE said that students will not be required to take a Board examination in the third language in Class X, with an aim to “keep the focus on learning and reduce any undue pressure on students”. Students who are not satisfied with their Class 12 marks can register for re-evaluation of copies, verify marks, or apply for a photocopy of answer sheets by Tuesday.
