From being trolled to celebrated: Virat Kohli fans rally around ‘lucky charm’ Anushka Sharma after RCB’s IPL triumph

Even before they were married, actor Anushka Sharma would be a constant presence at the matches of the Indian cricket team and Royal Challengers Bangalore, supporting her then-boyfriend Virat Kohli from the stands. However, whenever Virat failed to perform (which was rare in those days), Anushka found herself facing intense trolling and being branded ‘unlucky’ for Virat. It was interesting to note how the tables have turned now as the same Anushka is being labelled Virat and RCB’s lucky charm as the IPL franchise lifts their second successive Indian Premier League title. Koffee, fashion and nepotism: How Karan Johar changed the way a filmmaker is seen, judged and celebrated | Bollywood News

Koffee, fashion and nepotism: How Karan Johar changed the way a filmmaker is seen, judged and celebrated | Bollywood News

Back in 1999, at the 44th Filmfare Awards, when a nerve-wrecked Karan Johar stepped up on the dais to receive his maiden Best Director honour for his 1998 directorial debut Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, he got the entire auditorium — and the entire nation watching the broadcast on Doordarshan — hooked to his speech. “Ever since I’ve dreamt of being here in front of all the people that I’ve grown up watching, I figured if I wanted my dream to come true, I’d have to be a compere. Because I never really thought I’d turn director,” he said. As he concluded his acceptance speech — a self-admittedly rehearsed script rendered with the command of a professional compere — the hearty applause was directed at not only his monumental achievement, but also his refreshing eloquence. He wasn’t the age-old director with a hangover from his pind, but a new-age one raised in the increasingly cosmopolitan South Mumbai. He was also not just a filmmaker good at calling the shots on set, but also a well-rounded personality, …

Trishala Dutt says people celebrated Sanjay Dutt’s downfall during 1993 blasts case: ‘Seen it all’ | Bollywood News

3 min readNew DelhiMay 22, 2026 07:01 PM IST When Sanjay Dutt was accused of illegal possession of prohibited firearms, including an AK-56 rifle and a 9 mm pistol linked to the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts, his daughter Trishala Dutt was just five years old. Three years later, she lost her mother, Richa Sharma, yet she says she never blamed her father for anything he went through. Speaking to Inside Thoughts Out Loud, the 38-year-old reflected on her father’s turbulent journey and said, “He struggled through addiction at such a young age, going through that, coming out of it, then going to jail, coming out of that, then going back to jail, and staying three years over there and coming back out. I can’t imagine what that must have felt like.” Trishala Dutt further shared how difficult it was to cope while the entire world watched her family’s struggles play out publicly. “It was hard because I couldn’t talk to him in the moment because he is going through something and even if I was …

‘Bored. No words. Mind faster than Chacha Chaudhary’: How world cricket celebrated Virat Kohli’s 9th IPL century

Virat Kohli returned to form and in some style. The RCB talisman rolled back the clock and aced a typical Kohli masterclass in chase, allowing his team to knock off 193 against the Kolkata Knight Riders and take a huge step towards cementing a place in the Playoffs. Kohli led from the front with a ninth Indian Premier League (IPL) century – the most by any player in the history of the League as his unbeaten 105 off 60 balls saw RCB through. Why Mohammed Siraj celebrated Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s wicket so fiercely: Wonderkid now new nightmare of elite bowlers

Mohammed Siraj’s roar after dismissing Vaibhav Sooryavanshi in Jaipur did not arrive in isolation. It came after the Gujarat Titans fast bowler had been taken on by the Rajasthan Royals opener, who struck him early, forced a tactical reset, and made the wicket feel larger than a routine powerplay breakthrough. Siraj’s reaction was loud, animated and loaded with release. Kyle Jamieson and Mohammed Siraj after taking the wicket of Vaibhav Sooryvanshi. (X images) A few days earlier, Kyle Jamieson had produced a similarly sharp response after removing the same batter. Jamieson’s send-off drew official attention, with the Delhi Capitals pacer receiving a warning and one demerit point. Two senior international fast bowlers reacting that strongly to a 15-year-old batter has created one of the more revealing subplots of IPL 2026. Why Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s wicket has become a pressure-release moment The easy way to read the Mohammed Siraj and Jamieson reactions is to frame them around Vaibhav’s age. That reading misses the cricket. Bowlers are celebrating him with that intensity because he is already making them …

Trekking misadventures should not be celebrated, say forest officials

The recent incident involving a trekker from Kerala who went missing and was later rescued in the forests of Kodagu has highlighted the importance of adhering to forest regulations, according to officials from the Kerala Forest department. As social media celebrates the trekker for her ‘courage’, the Kerala forest officials dismiss the incident as a stroke of luck and warn the public about the dangers of illegal treks and straying off designated trails, which amount to punishable offence under the Kerala Forest Department Act. Speaking to The Hindu, Nadapuram native G.S. Saranya, who was rescued from the forests, said she had moved ahead of the group after beginning her descent from the peak at around 10:45 a.m. She was waiting for the two trekkers to join her when she lost her way. “I moved about while waiting for them, and then in an attempt to reach other trekkers, I took another route. But as I went forward, I lost my way,” said Ms. Saranya, “I survived on water from the stream and slept on the …
