Pakistan makes its own Dhurandhar: RAW chief wants Akhand Bharat, funds terror cells; viewers laugh at ‘weak detailing’

Pakistan makes its own Dhurandhar: RAW chief wants Akhand Bharat, funds terror cells; viewers laugh at ‘weak detailing’

If there is one thing that Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar got completely right, it was the depiction of espionage and Pakistan’s Lyari. Barring a few changes for dramatic effect, the director’s ‘peak detailing’ ensured the two Dhurandhar films were praised for their realism and meticulously crafted details. But while India praised Dhurandhar, the reaction in Pakistan was naturally not very positive. Many Pakistani viewers felt the film demonised their country, and particularly its spy agency ISI. Perhaps as a whiplash to the Dhurandhar effect, Pakistan has launched its own spy thriller, a TV show that began airing a few weeks ago. Pakistani show Jahannum Ba’raasta Jannat is being compared with Dhurandhar, but not as a compliment. Jahannum Ba’raasta Jannat, Pakistan’s answer to Dhurandhar Jahannum Ba’raasta Jannat is a Pakistani TV show that began airing on Green Entertainment Television on March 29. The spy thriller features a plot that shows the chief of India’s spy agency, RAW, discussing how to spread terrorism in Pakistan to destabilise the country. The show stars Javed Sheikh as the RAW chief. …

CATL’s new EV battery blows BYD’s speediest-charging cells out of the water

CATL, the world’s largest battery manufacturer, previewed several breakthroughs in electric vehicle battery tech that is sure to wow EV makers across the world — even if the tech never makes it to the US. The company teased the innovations at an event in Shanghai timed to precede the city’s auto show. According to local reports, CATL presented three new announcements designed to shake-up the battery world. The first was an upgraded version of its Shenxing battery designed to add more range when fast charging. CATL said the battery can now offer 520 kilometers (323 miles) of range from just five minutes of charging time — a marked improvement over BYD’s promise to add 400km (249 miles) of range in the same amount of time. CATL said its system could provide a maximum charging speed of 1.3 megawatts. Even at -10 degrees Celsius (14 degrees Fahrenheit), when charging speeds tend to slow to a crawl, CATL’s Shenxing battery can go from 5 percent to 80 percent in just 15 minutes. Another major announcement was the …

Vicky Kaushal fans defend him after Twitter blames Chhaava for Nagpur violence: ‘Operating on zero brain cells’ | Bollywood

After riots broke out in Nagpur following protests against Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb‘s tomb, curfew was imposed in the city. Marahashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis assured the situation was being tackled. He also mentioned how the recent Bollywood blockbuster Chhaava reignited people’s emotions against the Mughal emperor. Pretty soon, Twitter went ahead and blamed the film’s team for allegedly igniting hatred against Aurangzeb. (Also read: Maha CM Fadnavis says Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava corrects ‘historical injustice’ done to Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj) Vicky Kaushal plays Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj in Chhaava. There was widespread criticism of the film, director Laxman Utekar, and actor Vicky Kaushal on social media. Many held them responsible for fanning hatred against Aurangzeb and, by extension, the minorities. On Twitter (now X), many criticised Vicky for ‘fanning hatred’ with the film, and some accused him of deliberately doing films ‘with majoritarian hatred’. However, fans of the actor have defended him, saying he is just being made the scapegoat. ‘Can’t blame an actor for a film’s tone’ Many took to Twitter (now X) to defend Vicky …

Photosynthetic Machinery from Plants Operates Within Hamster Cells, Claims New Study

A breakthrough experiment has showcased the ability of chloroplasts, essential for photosynthesis in plants, to function inside animal cells. Red algal chloroplasts were introduced into cells derived from Chinese hamster ovaries (Cricetulus griseus), where they remained active for 48 hours, converting light into energy. This achievement represents a step forward in efforts to recreate the symbiotic processes seen in nature, offering potential applications in scientific engineering. The project aims to harness photosynthesis in non-plant organisms for diverse purposes. Chloroplast Integration into Animal Cells According to the study published in Proceedings of the Japan Academy, Series B, the research was led by Sachihiro Matsunaga, a biologist at the University of Tokyo. His team selected resilient chloroplasts from red algae capable of thriving in extreme conditions, such as volcanic hot springs. These organelles were isolated using a centrifuge and a controlled process that avoided direct damage to animal cells. Instead of piercing cell membranes, the technique involved modifying the culture medium to prompt animal cells to engulf the chloroplasts naturally. Drone Lands Near Bhopal Jail Cells With 69 Terrorists, Spotted After 8 Days

Bhopal: A high-security jail in Bhopal finds itself in the eye of a storm after a China-made drone was discovered inside its premises. The drone reportedly lay undetected for eight days before it was finally spotted by a staffer in Bhopal Central Jail on Wednesday, raising serious questions about security lapses and negligence. It was located by a duty guard near B block – a section close to the high-security ‘anda cells’ – called so because of their oblong shape – housing 69 terrorists – in the ISO-certified prison. Critics have raised concerns about the apparent negligence of jail authorities, who failed to detect the drone in a facility where security is paramount. Speaking to reporters, Narendra Shivaji Patel, a minister in Chief Minister Mohan Yadav’s cabinet though praised the vigilance of the security personnel. “If anyone saw the drone first, it was our security team,” he stated. He assured, “Due to the alertness of our jail management, the drone has been recovered. A comprehensive investigation is underway.” However, Rakesh Bangre, the jail superintendent, cited …

A bench of Justices Abhay S Oka, Ahsanuddin Amanullah and Augustine George Masih said the dedicated cell shall be responsible for the prompt processing of mercy petitions within the time frame laid down by the respective governments. “An officer-in-charge of the dedicated cell shall be nominated by designation who shall receive and issue communications on behalf of the dedicated cell. An official of the law and judiciary or justice department of the state governments/Union Territories should be attached to the dedicated cell so constituted,” the bench said.
