Army troops opened fire after detecting suspicious movement along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district on Friday night, triggering a brief exchange of small arms fire across the border, officials said. The firing occurred in the Tarkundi forward area around 10 pm and continued for nearly 90 minutes. No casualties or injuries have been reported. Troops respond to suspected infiltration attempt According to officials, soldiers deployed along the LoC noticed suspicious movement by suspected terrorists near the forward area, prompting them to open fire. The firing was followed by retaliatory small arms fire from across the border before the situation returned to normal. Officials said there was no immediate confirmation of any infiltration or casualties during the exchange. Search operation launched in the area A search operation was launched on Saturday morning to determine whether any infiltrators had managed to enter Indian territory. New Delhi, The government on Thursday notified the Central Armed Police Forces Act, 2026, after President Droupadi Murmu gave her assent to the “umbrella law” that will regulate recruitment, deputation, promotion and other conditions of service for the officers of the CFs. Govt notifies CAPF (General Administration) Act after president’s assent All CFs the Central Reserve Police Force , the Central Industrial Security Force , the Border Security Force , the Indo-Tibetan Border Police and the Sashastra Seema Bal are governed by their respective Acts. The rules under these Acts govern the recruitment and conditions of service for ‘Group-A’ general duty officers and other officers and members of the CFs. The new Act provides that 50 per cent of the posts will be filled through deputation from the Indian Police Service in the rank of an inspector general and a minimum of 67 per cent of the posts through deputation in the rank of an additional director general. Ranchi: Six maoists were killed in an encounter with CoBRA commandos of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and police in Bokaro district of Jharkhand on Monday morning, officials said. The exchange of fire, which started around 5.30 am in Lugu Hills of the Lalpania area of the district, is still going on, they said. The troops of 209 Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA) conducted the operation in which six maoists were killed and two INSAS rifles, a self-loading rifle (SLR)and a pistol were seized, the officials said. No injuries have been reported among the security personnel., they said.
