No casualties or injuries had been reported at the time of filing this report. According to Fire Control officials, a distress call was received at around 4.20 p.m., following which seven fire tenders were rushed to the spot. Fire-fighters were engaged in efforts to bring the blaze under control, with operations still underway. The fire sent thick plumes of smoke into the sky, alarming residents and commuters on the busy stretch. A student, who was appearing for an examination at a private educational institute nearby, said the flames could be seen rising up to the fourth floor of the building. Preliminary probe suggested that the fire may have been triggered in second-hand cars or decorative material warehouses in the area and quickly spread to huts and other tin structures near the Musi riverbed. …
