UK Manufacturers Face Growing Cyber Supply Chain Risk

UK Manufacturers Face Growing Cyber Supply Chain Risk

Nearly a third of UK manufacturers say they or a company in their supply chain experienced a cyber incident in the past year, while only half have a response plan in place. The new findings put supplier exposure alongside direct attacks as a manufacturing risk. A compromised supplier can interrupt production even when the manufacturer itself is not the initial target. Supply-chain incidents are disrupting production The Guardian reported that a Make UK survey found 30% of manufacturers had experienced a cyber incident either directly or through their supply chain during the previous 12 months. Among manufacturers affected through their supply chains, about 30% reported delayed customer deliveries or cuts to output, while almost a quarter reported supplier delays or shortages of components and materials. The UK government’s Cyber Security Breaches Survey provides a broader benchmark. It found 43% of UK businesses identified a breach or attack in the past year, while only 25% had a formal incident-response plan. Those figures cover businesses across the economy and are not a direct manufacturing comparison. Jaguar Land …

US Military App Study Offers a Supply Chain Lesson for Australia

US Military App Study Offers a Supply Chain Lesson for Australia

Most Australian organisations know who they buy software from. Far fewer know who wrote the code inside it. That blind spot sits at the heart of new research from Purdue University, the United States Military Academy at West Point, and Florida International University. After analysing more than 220 Android apps marketed to US military personnel, researchers found that many relied on third-party software development kits (SDKs) supplied by companies based in China and Russia. The researchers found no evidence that the embedded code was stealing data or conducting espionage. Instead, the study highlights a broader software supply chain problem that affects organisations everywhere, including Australia: companies often vet the software vendor, but not the external code that ships with the application. A software visibility problem for Australia’s enterprises The military angle may grab headlines, but it is only one example of a much broader issue. Modern enterprise applications are rarely built entirely by one company. Most combine internally developed code with open-source libraries, cloud services, analytics platforms, authentication tools, advertising frameworks, mapping services, and dozens …

‘Shilpa Shetty hasn’t taken a single penny home from Bastian’: Raj Kundra on restaurant chain | Bollywood News

5 min readNew DelhiJul 22, 2026 05:00 PM IST Shilpa Shetty’s restaurant chain Bastian has often made headlines for its popularity and reported revenues. Last year, author Shobhaa De sparked a buzz after claiming that one of the restaurant’s Mumbai outlets generates a turnover of Rs 2–3 crore in a single night. While Shilpa later dismissed those figures, her husband, businessman Raj Kundra, has now revealed that although the business is thriving, the couple doesn’t take any money out of it for themselves. Speaking to Jai Madaan, Raj said Vastu plays a significant role in their business decisions and revealed that every new Bastian outlet is vetted before it opens. “We do. We have a fixed Vastu expert. We have a priest named Jaspreet, who checks each and every property before we open it.” Hearing this, Jai Madaan recalled her first visit to Bastian’s Dadar outlet and the prediction she made about its future. “When I first went to Bastian in Dadar, I looked at the way the ‘B’ of Bastian began, and I told …

G7 Critical Minerals Push Targets AI and Chip Supply Chain Risk

G7 Critical Minerals Push Targets AI and Chip Supply Chain Risk

The hardware behind AI data centers, semiconductors, electric vehicles, industrial robots, telecom gear, and defense systems depends on minerals supply chains the G7 no longer wants concentrated in China. At this week’s G7 summit, leaders put that hardware risk back on the agenda. The question now is whether governments and manufacturers can finance enough refining, recycling, magnet production, and long-term purchase deals to make alternatives viable. A June 17 summit report said G7 leaders planned closer cooperation on critical minerals, including stockpiling, recycling, and a platform supported by the International Energy Agency. The push builds on the G7 Critical Minerals Action Plan and Critical Minerals Production Alliance, announced at the June 2025 summit in Kananaskis, Canada. For APAC technology manufacturers and buyers, the risk is not just where hardware is assembled. Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, India, Vietnam, and other regional hubs may make more high-value electronics and infrastructure, while AI data center growth is already putting new pressure on regional power planning. Final assembly does not remove exposure to minerals still refined, processed, or licensed …
