Komal Kohar, who replaced Mirabai Chanu, wins bronze
India’s Komal Kohar bagged twin bronze medals in women’s 48kg at the 2026 Asian Weightlifting Championships, ending the country’s three-year wait for a medal in the continental championships in Gandhinagar on Monday. Kohar, who was drafted into the Indian team after the withdrawal of 2020 Tokyo Olympics medallist Mirabai Chanu, grabbed her opportunity with both hands. The youngster lifted a total of 177kg to finish on the podium. She also won the clean and jerk bronze with a best lift of 99kg.
