Once touted as the next big thing, Mumbai’s Prithvi Shaw received a startling setback when he was dropped from Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy squad reportedly due to fitness issues. He’s found an unlikely ally in former India coach Greg Chappell. Former Australia skipper Chappell, troubled by seeing Prithvi’s dip in fortunes, wrote a letter to the 24-year-old, according to The Times of India. “Hi Prithvi, I understand you’re facing a challenging time right now, being out of the Mumbai team. It’s natural to feel frustrated and perhaps a bit uncertain, but I want you to know that these moments are often the turning points for athletes, helping to shape both their careers and their character,” he wrote. Shaw has played five Tests for India so far. He scored a hundred on debut against West Indies back in Nov 2018 in Rajkot but fell by the wayside thereafter because of alleged disciplinary issues.
