Mumbai (Maharashtra): Senior Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Chhagan Bhujbal on Tuesday morning took oath as a minister in the Mahayuti-led Maharashtra government at Raj Bhavan in Mumbai. The oath-taking ceremony was held in the presence of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Governor CP Radhakrishnan, who administered Bhujbal’s oath. Maharashtra Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, the chief of NCP, were also present at the occasion, along with other prominent ministers in the Mahayuti government. Mr Shinde said that Mr Bhujbal had served as a minister earlier, and his experience would benefit the Maharashtra government. He said that Chief Minsiter Fadnavis would decide on the portfolio for the veteran leader. Mumbai: Senior Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Chhagan Bhujbal today said he will be inducted into the Maharashtra cabinet headed by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday, marking his return to ministerial office after a long gap. “I have been informed that I will be inducted into the state cabinet. Oath ceremony will take place at 10 am on Tuesday,” he said. Sources in the BJP, which heads the ruling Mahayuti coalition, confirmed the development. The veteran politician will be sworn in by Maharashtra Governor C P Radhakrishnan at Raj Bhavan. Mr Bhujbal (77), who has had a distinguished and eventful political career spanning several decades, had been notably absent during Chief Minister Fadnavis’s cabinet expansion in December last year. Panel formed to probe tender for supply of material to protect grain godowns | Mumbai News

The Maharashtra government has set up a three-member committee to probe allegations of irregularities in a Rs 124-crore tender sanctioned by the state’s Food and Civil Supplies department in June, 2024, to supply dunnage pallets to government godowns used to store grains. Dunnage is the durable padding material used to protect goods during shipping. The committee has been set up after repeated complaints by legislators since August 2024 alleging the supply of “sub-standard material” and raising questions over the sanction of tender to an “ineligible” company. We have now formed a three-member committee which will look into the complaints and allegations.
