Shaurya Bhattacharya stamps authority with resounding 5-shot win

Shaurya Bhattacharya of Delhi stamped his authority with an error-free final round of six-under 63 to register a resounding five-shot victory at a total of 27-under 249 at the INR 1 crore SECL Chhattisgarh Open 2025 presented by Chhattisgarh Tourism played at the magnificent Fairway Golf & Lake Resort in Naya Raipur. Shaurya Bhattacharya (64-61-61-63), the overnight leader by five shots, drove home the advantage on Friday to record his second professional win. The 22-year-old Shaurya, who was the PGTI Emerging Player of the Year in 2024, dropped just one bogey during the tournament. Bhattacharya picked up the winning cheque worth INR 15 lakh that catapulted him from 59th to second position in the TATA Steel PGTI Ranking. Delhi’s Sachin Baisoya (67-62-64-61) fired the last day’s best score of 61 to climb five spots and claim the runner-up position at 22-under 254 at the Par-69 course. Shaurya moves to the top with fiery 61on day 3

Shaurya Bhattacharya (64-61-61), a winner on the PGTI in his rookie season last year, moved up one spot from his overnight tied second position as a result of his second consecutive 61. Sri Lankan N Thangaraja (66-63-62) shot a 62 on Thursday that propelled him 13 spots to tied second place at 16-under 291. Khalin Joshi (64-60-67), the halfway leader, returned a third round of 67 to stay in contention as he shared second place with Thangaraja. Sixteen-year-old rookie Manoj S (65) of Bengaluru, playing only his third professional event, was tied fourth at 15-under 192 along with Faridabad-based Abhinav Lohan (64) and Bengaluru’s M Dharma (66). Bengaluru golfer Khalin Joshi fired a sensational nine-under 60 to storm into a one-shot lead with a total of 14-under 124 in round two of the INR 1 crore SECL Chhattisgarh Open 2025 presented by Chhattisgarh Tourism being played at the Fairway Golf & Lake Resort in Naya Raipur. International winner Khalin Joshi (64-60), who equaled the tournament low of 60 also achieved by Shaurya Binu in round one, gained 12 spots from his overnight tied 13th position to move into the sole lead on Wednesday. Delhi’s Shaurya Bhattacharya (64-61) and Gurugram’s Kartik Sharma (63-62) ended the day in tied second place at 13-under 125 courtesy their bogey-free rounds of 61 and 62 respectively. Shaurya moved up 11 spots while Kartik jumped five spots on day two. Shaurya Binu, the first-round leader, carded a 67 to drop down to tied eighth place at 11-under 127. Shaurya Binu takes first round lead at Chhattisgarh Open

The first-ever competitive round at the pristine Fairway Golf & Lake Resort in Naya Raipur produced some stunning scores as Bengaluru’s Shaurya Binu returned a remarkable nine-under 60 to take the first-round lead at the INR 1 crore SECL Chhattisgarh Open 2025. The Delhi-based duo of Harshjeet Singh Sethie and Honey Baisoya as well as Karnal’s Mani Ram also carded sizzling scores of eight-under 61 at the Par-69 course to be placed tied second. Shaurya Binu, a two-time winner on the PGTI last season, began the day on a positive note with three birdies on the first five holes where he sank putts from a range of 10 to 20 feet. The only blip in his round was the bogey on the sixth where he three-putted. The 20-year-old Shaurya came back strongly with two birdies and an eagle on the next three holes where he made two conversions from 10 to 15 feet.
