AFC U17 Asian Cup Qualifiers: Dallalmuon Gangte powers India to win over Chinese Taipei

Dallalmuon Gangte delivered a captain’s performance as he scored a sublime hat-trick to guide India to a 3-1 victory over Chinese Taipei in their AFC U17 Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2026 Qualifiers Group D clash at the EKA Arena in Ahmedabad on Wednesday. The result marked India’s first win of the campaign after their 1-1 draw with Palestine last Saturday, and kept their qualification hopes firmly alive. Yang Hao-wei had given Chinese Taipei an early lead, and the sides went into half-time level at 1-1, but India’s sharpness and composure told in the second half. The win lifted India to second place in the group with four points, level with leaders IR Iran, who played a 1-1 draw with Lebanon earlier in the day, but behind on goal difference. For Chinese Taipei, the defeat confirmed their elimination as they occupy the bottom spot in the group with just one point from three matches. Lebanon and Palestine have three and two points, respectively. The match, however, began in the worst possible manner for India. Chinese Taipei, …

From Taiwan to India: Parth Singh’s journey into Indian athletics

From Taiwan to India: Parth Singh’s journey into Indian athletics

It was late in the evening in Taiwan. Parth Singh was winding down after a long tiring day, savoring his meal in the quiet comfort of his dorm room, books scattered as he prepared for an exam the next morning. Life had returned to normalcy after a quick five-day trip to India. But little did Parth know that people in India were still talking about his nationality status and his performance. Parth, listed as a Chinese Taipei athlete on the World Athletics website, represented Jharkhand at the Under-20 Junior National Championships in Bhubaneswar. “I have competed in India twice before, but this year, I won two gold medals and the Best U20 Athlete award. People only really notice you when you shine bright,” Parth, who has been living in Taiwan since the age of six, told The Bridge from Taiwan. Addressing the confusion about his nationality, Parth said the family has strong Indian roots. “I’m still an Indian. I don’t have a Taipei passport. Even if I love this place, I cannot really abandon my …

All England Open: Shi Yu Qi’s charge to the final, the only predictable outcome in men’s singles draw | Badminton News

The World No 1 will compete in the men’s singles final of the All England Open in 2025. That, perhaps, has been the only predictable outcome in a wild week of badminton at the Utilita Arena in Birmingham. By the last eight stages, in fact, Shi Yu Qi and Li Shi Feng were the only seeded players left in the men’s singles draw. The top seed made it to the title clash, but was pushed all the way by his compatriot Li in the semifinal on Saturday. After having won the first game comfortably, it seemed Shi would cruise through but what followed in Games 2 and 3 was a high-quality match between two men who know each other all too well. In the end, Shi prevailed 21-9, 20-22, 21-19 in a 76-minute marathon. The other half of the draw was already full of surprises, with France’s rising 20-year-old beast Alex Lanier going up against world No 22 Lee Chia Hao in a clash of unseeded players. And it was the Chinese Taipei right-hander who …
