Ticket prices drop by 50 percent after Portugal, USA exits

2 min readJul 8, 2026 12:31 PM IST Following the elimination of hosts USA and Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal from the FIFA World Cup 2026, the ticket market for the rest of the knockout stages have undergone a significant shift this week. Portugal’s 1-0 defeat to reigning European champions Spain brought an end to Ronaldo’s World Cup dream. The result effectively coincided with a sharp fall in ticket prices. With one of football’s biggest superstars no longer in the competition, matches that would likely have commanded far higher prices had Portugal reached the quarter-finals are now seeing a noticeable decline in demand. Tillman bends it like Juninho, Beckham, Pirlo and Zico to send USA into R16

Tillman bends it like Juninho, Beckham, Pirlo and Zico to send USA into R16

His friends call Malik Tillman ‘Tequila’. The mild-mannered midfielder is not a party animal, but he downed numerous shots of the Mexican drink the night PSV Eindhoven were crowned Dutch champions in 2024. The moniker travelled with him to Bayer Leverkusen and USMNT. An artificial intelligence spun meme has him holding a Tequila shot, wearing a sombrero. “Funny, how it has stuck along,” he once told Bundesliga.com. The goal he produced to punch USMNT’s ticket to the round-of-16 with a 2-0 win over Bosnia and Herzegovina, was as strong and intoxicating for the fans as the drink he is named after. The co-hosts were scrambling towards a victory when their hero and first-half goalscorer Folarin Balogun was sent off for what the referee, in consultation with VAR, decided was a dangerous challenge on Tarik Muharemovic. The replays suggested it was accidental rather than malicious, but the referer’s perspective differed, and Balogun is set to miss the next game against Belgium in four days’ time. USA football captain Christian Pulisic breaks into ‘Donald Trump Dance’ after scoring against Jamaica, says it was not political | Football News

The United States men’s football team captain Christian Pulisic broke into a dance after scoring a goal against Jamaica, mimicking US President-elect Donald Trump’s viral moves at a recent rally. The forward, however, said that it was just fun and not politically motivated. “I saw everyone doing it yesterday in the NFL, I saw Jon Jones do it, and we were just having a bit of fun. I thought it was a pretty fun dance. Obviously, that’s the ‘Trump Dance’ but it was just a dance that everyone’s doing. He’s the one who created it, so I just thought it was fun,” Pulisic said after his team defeated Jamaica 4-2 in the CONCACAF Nations League quarterfinal “It’s not a political dance. It was just for fun. I saw a bunch of people do it and thought it was funny, so I enjoyed it. I hope some people did,” he added. File image of Christian Pulisic© AFP AC Milan striker Christian Pulisic is among five players rested from the United States national team ahead of Tuesday’s friendly in Mexico, US Soccer said on Sunday. Pulisic set up the first American goal in Saturday’s 2-0 victory over Panama at Austin, Texas, that marked a triumphant debut for new US coach Mauricio Pochettino of Argentina. On Sunday, Pulisic was released back to AC Milan, the 26-year-old winger having played a large number of minutes over the past month for his Italian club and the US side. Marlon Fossey, Weston McKennie, Ricardo Pepi and Zack Steffen all have minor injuries and were sent back to their clubs for evaluation and treatment. “As we have said, we are always going to make decisions that are in the best interest of our players and respect the relationship we have with their clubs,” Pochettino said. No additional players will be added to the US roster before Tuesday’s matchup against arch-rival Mexico at Guadalajara. (This story has not been edited by …

AC Milan Consolidate Second Spot As Juventus Woes Continue

AC Milan consolidated second place in Serie A on Sunday by beating Verona 3-1 after Juventus were held to a goalless draw by Genoa. Goals shortly before and after half-time by Theo Hernandez and Christian Pulisic put Milan two ahead before Samuel Chukwueze volleyed the away side out of sight with 11 minutes remaining. Sunday’s win moved Milan three points ahead of third-placed Juve in the race for Champions League football. Stefano Pioli’s team trail runaway league leaders Inter Milan by 13 points, however they are all-but guaranteed a spot in next season’s revamped edition of Europe’s top club competition. Milan sit 14 points above fifth-placed Roma who host Sassuolo later, and with Italy favourites for an extra place in the Champions League next term the seven-time European champions have a massive cushion with nine fixtures remaining. Verona put on a good show and Tijjani Noslin’s unstoppable strike in the 64th minute gave the hosts hope they could pull off another good result after winning their previous two matches. Instead, Verona stay two points above …
