Nora Fatehi Summoned By NCW Over Sarke Chunar Controversy
Nora Fatehi is set to appear before the National Commission for Women (NCW) on Thursday after being summoned over the alleged indecent portrayal of women in the song Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke from the film KD: The Devil. The hearing is scheduled for 11:30 am following the Commission’s official summons in connection with the controversy surrounding the track. Last month, Sanjay Dutt also appeared before the NCW regarding the same matter and submitted a written apology, expressing regret for any “unintended” harm caused to society through the song. During the hearing led by NCW Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar, concerns were raised over the alleged vulgarity and indecent representation of women in the track, along with questions surrounding intent, awareness and accountability in mainstream entertainment. Earlier, Nora Fatehi had failed to appear before the Commission, citing that she was abroad, and had requested a fresh hearing date.
