NEET paper leak row: Latur-based doctor detained; CBI probes role of RCC Classes founder’s family | Education News

Investigating the alleged leak of NEET-UG 2026 question paper, the CBI on Wednesday detained a paediatrician, Manoj Shirole, from Latur, a day after the agency questioned him over his suspected role in obtaining and circulating leaked question papers. Sources said the doctor, whose residence and clinic in Latur’s Old Ausa Road area were searched by the CBI on Tuesday, was taken to Pune for further interrogation. The agency is also probing the role of family members of Shivraj Motegaonkar, the founder of Latur-based RCC Classes, after it found that his son had also appeared in the entrance exam on May 3. Investigators are examining Shirole’s links with suspected paper buyers, financial transactions and communication records with the alleged leak network. Sources familiar with the probe said the agency is also examining whether the doctor played any role in circulating leaked NEET papers among candidates or intermediaries linked to Maharashtra’s coaching and admission network. CBI officials began the search at RCC in the city’s Shivnagar locality in the afternoon, and it was still underway till late evening, they said. The central agency had questioned RCC founder Shivraj Motegaonkar for nearly eight hours on Friday (May 15, 2026) at his residence, located in the same area. Sources said the CBI suspects that some doctors from Latur had purchased the “leaked” NEET examination paper. A CBI team has been camping in Latur for the past four days. The federal agency has registered an FIR and formed teams to probe the alleged paper leak that resulted in the cancellation of the exam held on May 3. CBSE mandates three-language formula in classes 9-10, clarifies no board exam for third language

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Friday issued a circular mandating that students from Class IX onwards must study three languages from July 1. However, it clarified that the third language (R3) will not be included as a Board examination subject in Class X. The board stated that at least two of the three languages must be Indian languages, in accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the National Curriculum Framework for School Education 2023, according to ANI. “With effect from July 1, 2026, for Class IX, the study of three languages (R1, R2, R3) shall be compulsory, with at least two languages being native Indian languages,” the circular read. However, the CBSE said that students will not be required to take a Board examination in the third language in Class X, with an aim to “keep the focus on learning and reduce any undue pressure on students”. Telangana BIE re-releases admission schedule; classes for Inter first year to begin from June 1

Phase-I admissions to Intermediate first year will begin on Tuesday, and classes will commence from June 1, the Board of Intermediate Education (BIE) said while releasing the admissions schedule for 2026-27 afresh on Monday. As per the schedule, the last date for receipt of applications in all colleges is May 31, and admissions in the first phase shall be completed by June 30. The BIE instructed principals of all colleges in the State to make provisional admissions based on candidates’ internet marks memo downloaded by them on the day of the result. The same will be confirmed after the candidates produce their original SSC pass certificate and Transfer Certificate issued by their school authorities. The Board’s admission schedule for the upcoming academic year was originally issued on May 5 but was soon kept in abeyance over a lack of clarity regarding the proposed merger of the Intermediate Board with schools as a unified system. Telangana Commission for Backward Classes want 40 more castes to be included in Central OBC list Telangana Commission for Backward Classes urged Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao to take necessary steps for inclusion of 40 more Backward Castes in the State to the Central Other Backward Classes (OBC) list. The Commission’s Chairperson G. Niranjan said that the Census-2027 should be initiated in the State only after inclusion of the castes in the list.  The House Listing Operations (HLO) in the State are scheduled to begin from May 11. This will be the first fully digital exercise. An option for citizens to voluntarily enter the data through a platform will be provided 15 days prior to the HLO.  “In Telangana State, 130 castes have been recognized as Backward Classes. However, the Central Government has included only 90 castes in the OBC list and has not included 40 castes.
