A Delhi court on Thursday granted bail to I-PAC co-founder and director Vinesh Chandel in a money laundering case linked to an alleged coal scam in West Bengal. Additional Sessions Judge Amit Bansal noted that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has not opposed the bail plea. Earlier on April 14, the court had allowed the ED to quiz Chandel in its custody for 10 days, saying there are reasons to believe that he was actively involved in processes and activities connected with the generation, diversion and possession of proceeds of crime worth several crores. A Delhi court on Tuesday denied interim bail to Vinesh Chandel, director and co-founder of Indian Political Action Committee (I-PAC), in connection with a money laundering case being investigated by the Enforcement Directorate. I-PAC co-founder Vinesh Chandel were produced before the judge on April 14 after ED arrested him in West Bengal Coal case. Additional sessions judge Shefali Barnala Tandon of Patiala House Court rejected the plea, ruling that the request did not meet the threshold of “exceptional humanitarian grounds” necessary for granting interim bail. The court underlined that it was not insensitive to the medical vulnerability of elderly parents, but the material on record did not indicate any sudden or life-threatening emergency requiring the accused’s immediate presence. Hours after the ED raided consultancy firm I-PAC`s office, Pratik Jain, the co-founder of the election strategy agency, on Thursday afternoon filed a counter petition at a single-judge bench of the Calcutta High Court against the Enforcement Directorate (ED), news agency IANS reported.  The petition challenged the ED`s raid and search operations earlier in the day at his residence at Loudon Street in central Kolkata as well as at the I-PAC’s office on the northern outskirts of Kolkata. The petition has been admitted by the single-judge bench of Justice Suvra Ghosh. ED accuses CM Mamata Banerjee of misusing her position Earlier in the day, ED also approached the same bench, accusing West Bengal Chief Minister (CM) Mamata Banerjee of misusing her constitutional position, IANS reported. The Enforcement Directorate on Thursday detained BluSmart co-founder Puneet Jaggi from a Delhi hotel after the agency conducted raids in a case related to Gensol Engineering Ltd, news agency PTI reported, citing official sources. BluSmart co-founder Puneet Jaggi (X/Puneet Jaggi) The agency searched the company’s offices in Delhi, Gurugram, and Ahmedabad under the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA). The ED is investigating Gensol promoter brothers Anmol Singh Jaggi and Puneet Singh Jaggi after a SEBI report accused them of financial irregularities, corporate misgovernance, and fund diversion. The company has not yet issued a response, PTI added. BluSmart bookings halted The Jaggi brothers’ other venture, BluSmart Mobility, operates electric cabs under the BluSmart brand in Delhi-NCR, Bengaluru, and Mumbai.
