Hollywood film The Mummy (released under the title Lee Cronin’s The Mummy) has emerged as a surprise performer at the Indian box office. The film has grossed around Rs. 11 crore approx in its first four days, and the trend has been exceptionally strong. On Monday, it collected Rs. 1.80 crore approx, which was barely 10 per cent down from its opening day. The film is heavily over-indexing in South India, which contributes more than half of its total box office. Within that, Tamil Nadu is driving the business, leading as the top circuit with almost one-fourth of the total box office coming from the state. Typically, Mumbai is the top circuit for Hollywood films, followed by Delhi-UP and Mysore, with Tamil Nadu & APTS occasionally featuring in the top, as is the case here. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has carried out searches at a Delhi based real estate firm – Earth Infrastructures Limited (EIL), which is accused of collecting ₹2024.45 crore from more than 19,425 homebuyers or investors by promising timely delivery of residential or commercial units along with assured returns but failed to deliver, agency officials said on Saturday. The accused entities collected approximately ₹2024.45 crore from more than 19,425 homebuyers/investors. (HT sourced photos) During the searches, carried out on Friday at ten locations in Delhi and Gurugram linked to promoters and associates entities of EIL, the federal financial crimes probe agency recovered ₹6.3 crore in cash, jewellery valued at around ₹7.5 crore, besides silver bullion and luxury watches. The agency said in a message to shippers on its Cargo Systems Messaging Service (CSMS) that it will de-activate all tariff codes associated with President ​Donald Trump’s ​prior IEEPA-related orders as of Tuesday. Baahubali: The Epic concluded its first weekend in India with Rs. 27 crore approx. Another Rs. 10 crore poured in from overseas, for a worldwide weekend of Rs. 37 crore approx. This marks the biggest opening for an Indian re-release, both in India and worldwide. The record previously was held by Sanam Teri Kasam, which grossed Rs. 19 crore in India and worldwide, as that film had no release or business overseas. Most of the business of Baahubali: The Epic came from the original Telugu version, while the dubbed Hindi and Tamil versions performed modestly. The Telugu states grossed over Rs. 15 crore. There was a drop after the first day of Rs. 8 crore, with Sunday collecting less than half at Rs. 3 crore. Imphal/Guwahati/New Delhi: A mentally challenged girl was allegedly raped and murdered while she went to collect firewood at a forest in Manipur’s Churachandpur district, sources said on Friday. A suspect has been detained by the police, sources said, and declined to give the name since the investigation is at a very early stage. Her body was found at 12 pm on Friday in the forest at Churachandpur’s Leijangphai village, they said. The girl’s clothes were torn and there were injury marks on her body, sources said. Her father had sent her to the forest to collect firewood, sources said, adding he became concerned when she did not return. He immediately ran into the forest, and after searching for some time found his daughter’s body lying near a small pile of firewood that she collected, sources said.
