T.N. govt. appoints Rajesh Lakhoni Commissioner of Land Administration

Siva Saravanan The Tamil Nadu government on Friday posted senior IAS officer Rajesh Lakhoni, who recently returned to the State cadre after Central deputation, as Additional Chief Secretary and Commissioner of Land Administration. He replaces R. Gajalakshmi, who was transferred earlier. During his Central deputation, Mr. Lakhoni, a 1992-batch IAS officer, served as Commissioner of the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti since 2025. The State government also transferred A. Sivagnanam, Additional Chief Electoral Officer, Public (Elections) Department and posted him as Commissioner, Disaster Management. Lucknow, Taking a serious view of allegations that three Delhi-based lawyers and their client were assaulted and prevented from pursuing judicial proceedings inside the Lucknow district court premises, the Allahabad High Court has directed the district judge and the police commissioner to submit detailed reports by 10:15 am on Wednesday. A special bench comprising Justices Rajan Roy and Manjive Shukla was constituted on the directions of the chief justice at 7 pm on Tuesday to hear the matter urgently. The court observed that if the allegations were found to be true, the incident would not merely amount to a criminal offence, but would constitute a grave interference with the administration of justice, which could not be tolerated. The matter was brought before the court through an interim application filed by Delhi-based advocates Abhipsa Mohanty, Komal Agrawal and Ashutosh Srivastava. The post has been lying vacant ever since Rakshith, who was earlier serving as Commissioner, was appointed as private secretary to Urban Development Minister Yathindra Siddaramaiah. Addressing a press conference in Mysuru on Wednesday (July 15), Mr. Kautilya, who is also the BJP’s OBC Morcha president, said the functioning of MDA, which had been in the news over the alleged scam relating to the 50:50 ratio scheme, has been seriously affected without a Commissioner. 2 min readShimlaJul 2, 2026 11:04 AM IST The National Green Tribunal (NGT) on Wednesday impleaded the Municipal Corporation (Solan), its Commissioner and two private land owners as respondents relating to the alleged illegal tree felling in Solan. The Tribunal also took note of the reply of Solan Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Samir Raj, who has denied the allegations. A bench comprising judicial member Justice Arun Kumar Tyagi and expert member A Senthil Vel passed the order while hearing a suo motu petition. The Tribunal took on record the replies filed by the DFO and the Himachal Pradesh State Pollution Control Board (HPSPCB) on June 27. The pollution board in its reply said the area and act of illegal felling doesn’t come under its purview. In its reply, the DFO said permissions were granted by the civic body’s tree officer to Rajni Singla on March 15 and September 11, 2025, for felling trees. However, they were subject to conditions, including compensatory afforestation and maintenance of at least 30 trees for every tree felled. The report …

The Punjab government on Saturday appointed IAS officer Ojasvi Alankar as the new municipal commissioner of Ludhiana. Alankar, currently serving as additional chief administrator of the Greater Ludhiana Area Development Authority (GLADA), will assume the charge on Monday, while Saturday marked the last working day of outgoing commissioner Neeru Katyal Gupta. A 2016-batch IAS officer, she had assumed charge as the civic body commissioner on January 27 this year and served in the post for less than five months.
