The government is working on introducing vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) or cars communication technology to help prevent road accidents, Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari said on Thursday, reported the PTI. Addressing a press conference after chairing the annual meeting of transport ministers from all states and Union Territories, Nitin Gadkari said that the new technology would allow vehicles to communicate with each other in real time. How V2V technology will work Under the V2V system, drivers will receive real-time alerts about the speed, location, acceleration, braking and presence of nearby vehicles, including those in blind spots. This will enable drivers to take timely action and avoid collisions. Gadkari said a joint task force has been formed with the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) to implement the system. The DoT has agreed in principle to allocate 30 MHz spectrum in the 5.875–5.905 GHz band for V2V communication, according to the PTI.
